Q&A: Cats coordinators after open spring practice

    OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR EDDIE GRAN

On how Ryan Timmons is doing this spring: “We've moved him around a little bit, so he's playing our Y position and our X position. We did that just in the last two practices, so his head was kind of going all over the place. But I love the way he came out and learned and doing the two positions, he's got to learn a lot. That'll get him on the field more. I really like where he's at right now and he's coming out and competing and learning every day, so I'm fired up about him.”

Not to be a downer, but from what I've read here and there it sounds like the d line is gonna be a really big concern.

I read somewhere that we might play a 4-3 this season. Maybe that will help.

It's a bit early for me to be overly concerned about the DL. We were running a base defense, have some new LB's, and Stoops observed after viewing the film that there were some who were trying to do too much and not maintaining their gap responsibilities. I'll add to this an improved OL ... just my sense of where we are compared to last year. We have some "bad boys" in that front 7. I could be wrong of course. I'm going to hide out and very actively watch. Might even hold my breath, cross my fingers, and toes if it would help.

Not a chance in France. Why would the staff even entertain that idea as they have been and continue to recruit and sign kids that fit their version of the 3-4 for the last four recruiting cycles?
