LEXINGTON, Ky. – A fresh start for the Kentucky football offense does not mean the Wildcats’ new coaches have any plans of taking it easy on players.
“To be a great offense you have to be able to execute and you’ve got to be disciplined,†new UK offensive coordinator Eddie Gran said in a roundtable interview with The Courier-Journal, Lexington Herald-Leader and CN2. “If you’re not that then they’re going to have my foot up their rear end and I’m going to be on them.â€
Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops highlighted the leadership Gran and new quarterbacks coach Darin Hinshaw bring to the staff when he announced their additions earlier this month.
In an extended interview Wednesday, both coaches made it clear that leadership will take a stern face often.
“We’re going to continue to preach the details of how you do things and we’re going to overemphasize those things and they’re going to do them,†Hinshaw said. “It’s demanded upon them every single day. I tell kids: To be coached is to be loved, so get ready to be loved a lot.
