I still recall how in the open 2013 Fans Day practice many people considered Reese to be the best passer of all the qb's. I was so hoping that he would get the opportunity to play his freshman year and show whether he had what it took or not. It looked like in the eighth game of his freshman year he was going to get that chance. Towles was redshirting while Jalen was struggling and Maxwell was battling an injury. Although there was talk he was going to play, nope, couldn't get him any playing time in that eighth game against Alabama State. Didn't want to "burn" his redshirt I guess.

Personally I could see him transferring to FCS school Jacksonville State. Could play right away, still have two years and only be a couple hours from his hometown Chatanooga. Good luck to the young man. I don't blame him a bit for leaving.

I really hate to hear of Phillips transferring, and not because of how it may affect the team. I haven't gotten to know any of the players personally, in a long time, but some of them I take an instant liking to and Reese is one of those players. I don't blame him for leaving, and wish him the best. We better hope Drew stays healthy.

I agree Matt. I read a criticism on another site a year or two ago that said he didn't have the arm strength to throw a deep crossing route. I've seen him throw nice deep balls. The "critic" reported being on the sideline. As unknowledgeable as I may be, accuracy trumps arm strength just about every time in my experience. I would have liked to have seen Reese get some playing time. Seems that there are more than a few QBs transferring. I hope Reese does well.

well......if we sign a QB, don't expect him to redshirt.​Looks like this is a nationwide phenomenon. AtM losing the whole qb contingent before a bowl game? Kids names are popping up seems like every week.

IF we don't get Kiel, or another experienced QB, we are absolutely SOL at QB next year. We have zero depth, and that's no offense to Hoak. With Phillips' departure, I have to believe SOMEBODY is in the works.

The problem with Kiel is he just completed his Jr. year. If he transferred to UK, he'd have to sit out next season.

I may be wrong, but I thought read somewhere else that Kiel will a 5th yr senior in 2016, and would eligible immediately as a graduate transfer - kind of like how Towles was able to transfer to BC and will be playing for them in the fall.

The key would be if he's going to graduate before next season. Towles has already graduated.
