Hard to believe this fall that Stoops first class of kids that played as true FR will be SRs.

Thanks, RV - great stuff, as always.

Leavitt, Asafo-Adjei, Toth, Meyers and Young up front: looks promising.

Same for the young Ols waiting in the wings.

I'm eager to see the transfers, especially at LB, but including Greg Hart at TE...though I am eager to see how C.J. Conrad is used by the new OC.

That is one full stable of RBs, and it's nice that they're spread out over various class years.

        WRs:

Blake Bone: I was really surprised that Blake Bone wasn't used more in 2014. There were times (the Louisville game was one) where he seemed to be getting open, but didn't seem to be on the QB's radar. He was a promising prospect, with good size, and made some good plays here and there. Here, he's listed as a third stringer. Is he falling behind like that? Are there other issues? Is there still a decent chance he could emerge as a starter and big playmaker? At the end of last year, I thought that if he had a good spring and summer, we could see him as a starter and favorite target of starting QB Drew Barker.

Ryan Timmons: speed is there, consistency hasn't been; at the end of last year I thought it was likely he'd be passed over by some younger guys. Is this just a matter of him being the best of the guys who fit the type for that receiver spot? Can Badet play the same spot?

Tavin Richardson: is he a sophomore, or a redshirt freshman in 2016?

Tavin Richardson: is he a sophomore, or a redshirt freshman in 2016?

I nearly always make some sort of error when I can't cut and paste and am working from memory so thanks for that catch. Yes, Tavin is a RFr.

re. Bone, Badet, Ross et. al. There are only three WR spots if you project 11 personnel (1 RB, 1 TE) and it's almost a given that Baker and Johnson will be two of the starters then that only leaves one WR spot. Badet consistently started at the third spot so there's really no place for Bone to start but I do agree he was under utilized last year. The good problem we have is that Ross will push for one of those three starting spots IMO. I think his skill set fits the X better than the others but hey, that's just me making an educated guess. I expect Bone, Conrad and others to have expanded roles in this Gran offense and I also expect the ball to be spread around quite a bit.

Chances are the fourth WR spot will fall to CJ as he can split out and cause matchup problems much like Gronk and other pro TE's of that type (similar player but he's not yet a Gronk), so honing in on who plays where after the starters is a bit of a guessing game. Just using my best judgement in filling out the chart.

I too am excited about our young O-line talent moving forward.

Two things strike me in reviewing the depth chart.

First, the "good news/bad news" item: We will once again be VERY young. I count 4 Seniors in the 2-deep on offense, only two of whom are starters, and one of those may not start. I count 6 seniors in the 2-deep on defense, 4 who are starters. The "bad' news -- we will still be young. The "good" news -- the future continues to look VERY bright.

The second thing that strikes me is that some of the DL we have been touting for a couple of years really need to step up NOW. These include Meant, Middleton, Elam, Dubose and Miggins. We have been talking about how good these guys are or can be for the last couple of years. Now, they need to show it.

Oh, and then there is a third thing, too, I guess. Kind of an after-thought, although it should not be. The roster looks solid and deep from top to bottom. But, none of that will matter if we do not get solid QB play. I think Hoak is too young, but either Barker must live up to his HS billing or Johnson must be all we hope he is. Preferably, both of these will be the case. If not, well ...

Only 4 seniors on the entire O chart and 6 on the D chart. Did I read this right. Incredible.

I think we are just about there in terms of having a bona-fide SEC-caliber DB rotation. Good stuff RV.

Does anyone have any idea how Elam's weight issue is now? I for one, think he needs to lose 30-40 pounds to really be a factor.

I cannot wait to see Marcus Walker this year. I think that kid is going to get some significant playing time. He was an extremely impressive specimen coming out of high school.

are you sure TV is a Sr? I believe he was in boom's class. I know he is still about a buck 50, wish he could put on some weight.

According to the official UK athletics website, he is indeed a Jr. the same as Boom.

Prolly will find another mistake or two. Like I said, I was going from memory and hindered by age and fat fingers. Anyway, it shouldn't matter as I really don't see TV making it past this fall at UK - if that.

He is a tiny tiny guy. I don't think his frame can hold more than another 10 lbs without sacrificing his biggest asset.
