    SEC QBs v NCAA

A couple of SEC QBs were in court yesterday in quest of additional eligibility. Ole Miss QB Chambliss and UT-K's Aguilar were seeking injunctions to force the NCAA to allow them to play this fall. The basis for the appeals were different however.

Chambliss had requested a, so called, medical redshirt based on inability to play in 2022. The NCAA claimed he had not submitted sufficient evidence to back up his claim. The court ruled the evidence was sufficient and granted an injunction to allow Chambliss to play this fall.

The Aguilar appeal was based on Vandy QB Diego Pavia's suit against the NCAA last year. I thought this suit has resulted in a ruling that years playing at a JC would not count against ones four years of eligibility. Apparently I was wrong. Although Pavia had been granted an injunction last year, it didn't automatically means others would be granted eligibility this year. The judge was not willing to render a decision yesterday but indicated he would make a ruling in the near future. My guess, the court will grant an injunction but this beyond my pay grade.

There are articles on both cases on the ESPN football page.

The rules remain whatever the NCAA wants them to be. 5 years to play 4. Unless we decide you should get 9 like the LB at Montana. Joke of an organization. Has been for 50 years or more.

This was a surprise. I thought Aguilar would granted another year for sure.

A Tennessee state judge Friday denied Tennessee quarterback Joey Aguilar's request for a preliminary injunction to play for the Volunteers this season, effectively ending his college career.

Chambliss at least had a bit of an argument in his favor. Aguilar had nothing.

I scanned VolNation for comments. Was very surprised that the majority agreed with the decision and thought JA didn't have a case.
