    Are all transfer enrolled?

Anyone know if all the transfers have been enrolled and will be available for spring practice? How about early enrollees from the incoming Freshmen? i saw the the QB from Cincy would enroll early but nothing else.

If Matt Ponatoski is enrolled early will he be on the baseball team?

Just checked the baseball roster. I guess not. I think the hope is that he can be redshirted this year. Minchey may be here for two years. I still wonder if Ponatoski won’t end up choosing baseball over football. I don’t see how he can participate in Spring practices with it being during baseball season.

Matt P is not enrolling early. Finishing HS senior year baseball. At least as far as I know.

That’s what I would figure. Why would he forego his senior baseball season. Especially when there’s a chance he could be drafted in the MLB draft in June. That’s the other thing we have to consider a bit.

The MLB draft is THE threat to Matt P playing any sport at UK.

I'll repeat what I've said before, and I hope I'm wrong, I doubt he ever plays a down of college fb.

I don't follow baseball. At what point do prospects usually accept their draft position and forego college, first round pick, first three rounds pick? Just curious how that usually plays out.

The MLB draft is July 11-12. I don't know what the trend is as to your question about choosing college over pros. UK shortstop Tyler Bell was the 66th overall pick in the '25 draft and was the highest drafted HS senior who chose college. I think Matt P is expected to go higher than that.

I have a question. I know basketball players can go pro after one year in college and fb players have to complete their Jr. year of college. If a baseball player doesn't go pro right out of h.s. and enters college when is the earliest he can leave school and play MLB?

Depends on their age. Bell is a draft eligible sophomore, but typically it is after their 3rd year on campus.

The fb rule does not require one to be a junior, only that you have been in college for three years. If a player redshirts, he would be eligible after this soph year.

                            Thanks for the clarification, LG.
