    Kroger Field gets $36M upgrade

Each upgrade is to charge more for seats. UK needs better fan improvements as well. WIFI / Sound system and such. I think they got lighting last year but not much reason to get the lights dancing last year. If the team is playing great (does not mean wins again year 1) but plays hard, fast, productive football. Competes at the highest level they can, people will buy the seats, tailgate and so forth. If UK is just trying to make a buck, charge more, charge to tailgate and so forth then it will wither and die. Fans want players they can cheer for and they want a staff that can put those players in opportunities to win football games.

I remember when they announced these. I seem to recall that most of this round of upgrades were all things I wouldn't likely use or appreciate other than the "general seating and concourse updates". And I'm becoming ancient and old fashioned, but I kind of don't want the stadium to have wifi. There are enough zombies out there staring constantly and stupidly at their phones. I don't want to see that at the stadium. We're supposed to be there to cheer on our team and take a break from the everyday.

I'm with you about the wifi, I do get my phone out a few times to look at the stats during the game but that's about it but I could live without it.

My bench back seats in the public seating area are being upgraded so I suspect I'll pay more by either a higher ticket price, UK putting a required donation on my seats or most likely both. After 50 years having tickets I expect to only have a couple years left that I can afford them.

They want to improve our game experience but it's looking like they will end up pricing our tailgate out. That doesn't improve my game experience. It's not what the young people want I guess.

UK should take a lesson from NASCAR. It was one of the biggest sports but they got arrogant and made changes that ran off the long time fans and it took a lawsuit that revealed a lot of nasty secrets for them to wake up and smell the coffee.

Not sure what they mean by upgrading the public seating area. not sure what more they can do for my bench backs in the upper deck outside of individual seats, but that's not happening without a significant loss of stadium capacity. I think they were planning to do individual seats in a couple of lower bowl sections to get more money. Not looking forward to the inevitable increase that will be coming to ticket prices, when they put them out for renewal next month.

As for tailgating, we are on borrowed time. I hate not knowing what the plan will be and if we will be able to continue what will be year 27 of our tailgates. It's pretty obvious they want us average fans out of the grass, they want tailgates smaller and confined to their little patch of paid real estate. It would just suck if it all had to come to an end because the University felt the need to capitalize every blade of grass within eyeshot of the stadium.

Public seating is going to chair backs. The upgrades are supposed to lose around 400 seats. I have only been doing the tailgate for about 12 years and hope it's not over.

I understand a charge for tailgating. But the rest of the rumors I am hearing are going to hurt ticket sales deeply.

                    I thought Stoop's buyout was 38M.

From what I saw, it looks like the first several rows of both upper decks will go to chairbacks, with the rest staying as bleachers. I'm 21 rows up in the upper deck, so my chairback will stay the same, but only a matter of time before all season tickets have to make a minimum K-Fund donation. so far I've stayed out of the seats that require that.

It's not the whole stadium, just the first few rows of the upper deck and a few areas in the lower level.

I saw that yesterday, I'm 16 rows up so I should be safe. It is just a matter of time before we're paying a donation
