    Secret WR recruit?

I keep reading in other places that there may be an unnamed WR we are recruiting who hasn’t officially entered the portal yet. I hope so b/c the Texas kid looks destined for Colorado. I feel desperate for a WR 1, but I trust the coaching staff knows what they are doing and has a plan/contingencies. Our WR room has been pretty dreadful the last couple of years. It’s hard to move the ball without some dynamic playmakers, and Stein’s offense is built on isolating the best players in space and letting them win one on one match ups. Hoping for a couple of surprises is the next day or two.

My guess will be the guy from Oregon (one of their top wide outs) that is supposed to enter the portal (at least noise from Oregon boards is one is leaving).

Funny you say that. I've been wondering why there hasn't been any noise about us and any of those Oregon kids that got in the portal. They had a TE get in and 2 QBs. Heck the one QB's dad played at UK. Wonder if Lanning and Stein had a deal or something that we wouldn't take any kids?

Stein contract had stipulations on if he took other jobs, he could not poach players, if player goes to portal he has to get Lanning approval to go after players. Read that on either A Sea Of Blue or KSR. Cannot remember.

Smart on their part, but that's pretty ridiculous. Another coach should have zero say in who you can and can't recruit.

It was also with coaches. They had to move up to be available for UK. So the asst line coach is our line coach and another changed position as such.

Yes, but this is a matter of a written, enforceable contract, and not dependent on an opposing Coaches’ decision.

Considering Lanning gave Stein the opportunity that led to him becoming the head coach at Kentucky and that it is Lanning's players we're talking about, it makes sense to me. After all, he's not saying Stein CAN'T take them....only that they have to enter on their own and it has to be agreed upon. And since Stein has a good relationship with Lanning, from all accounts, and the kid will be leaving anyway....I don't imagine it being too much of a problem.

DeKorien Moore would be huge! He was the consensus top wide receiver prospect in the 2025 class. Also ran track in high school, ran a 10.40 100 meters a junior, and he has multiple years left. He would be a better get than the Moore we lost to Colorado.

I am confident that we'll get our big-time playmaking WR. We might even end up with two of them. I don't think Will Stein has depleted his NIL budget yet by any means. And I know he won't quit until he gets his guy.
