^Totally agree. Strey was mentioned several times last season by Stoops and Wolford as being a guy they thought was SEC ready. Really high on him. Not sure the reason behind his departure, especially when it appears he'd have the inside track for a starting job, just looking at the numbers. Stein is going to have to do some yeoman work to nab at least one OT, if not 2 or more. We just don't have the bodies we need at that position right now.

Any chance Strey could reconsider? I doubt an LSU or similar program would spend a ton of money and rely on a guy who hasn't played very much at the college level. So, if he's going to be a depth piece elsewhere, wouldn't it be smarter to stay and play significant snaps at UK?

Agree. There may be personality conflicts or something else at play in this situation. But, a completely untested RSFr OT just isn't going to command big NIL money and be guaranteed a starting slot at another program, I wouldn't think. Maybe if he considers a MAC team or something like that, but then he wouldn't have access to big NIL money. But, if he reconsiders and stays at UK, I would think he's definitely going to be given every chance to start unless we happen to land a couple of transfers that we can plug in (which looks more and more unlikely at this point). From a stictly PT standpoint, this decision to transfer looks foolish, imo.

My biggest concern, at this time, is OT. Darrin Strey has entered the Portal leaving Malachi Wood as the only OT with in-game reps remaining on the roster. With one week left for players to transfer, and most of the better h.s. players already having signed NLI's, the situation seems to be getting dire to me.

I though it was 1 week left to enter the portal. They can sign at any time. Yes we need them for semester that is starting now but we could get some in late that join the team in the summer. As long as they stay in shape most of these guys know what to do, it is just lingo and such at teams. Smart guys, like most OLINE guys can catch on quick, I would hope.

While at UK vs Miss State game Stein got Texas Linebacker Elijah Bo Barnes to commit. UK got a top 60 Player from last year. He preserved his Red SHirt but played vs Michigan in the bowl game. He had a sack and a few tackles in that game. UK also got another Safety and a kicker this evening. Stein is cooking now that he is here. Would love to see a few big time offense players now. DC is getting his side of the ball about wrapped up.

Agree. Need a few more playmakers and big uglies to finish this up. I'm expecting both Rodriguez and Skinner to be go-to weapons so another RB and maybe a couple more WRs would make me feel a lot better.
