SEC goes down again - thanks, Vols

Hate TN but don't like SEC losing to B10. And this is one of the matchups in bowls where the two teams were, record-wise, very evenly matched. Will Vol Nation start getting frustrated with Heupel? Seems like each succeeding year, they lose just a bit more. Other than Brad White, seems like DCs have figured out ways to at least keep TN from a relay race to the end zone. If they lose another 4 games next year, will Heupel be asked to move on? Just speculatin', of course. But Vol fans are not known for their patience.

I fully realize that I'm most likely in the minority, but like seeing the rest of the country catch up on the gridiron. It's good for the college game. And if I'm being perfectly honest, I grew a little weary of the SEC chest thumping in recent years. Just my opinion.

But to answer your question, I do think defensive staffs are catching up with Heupel a bit. Eight and five records won't cut it long term in Knoxville.

I never understood rooting for teams that kick our ass year in and year out because they are in our conference. Maybe it makes us feel better for being a bad football team? The top tier programs laugh at us as a football program. Why would I root them on?

You don't have to wait until next year.

Wow - that didn't take long.

In general, I don't pull for the SEC as I'm fully aware our conference affiliation doesn't make UK'S performance any better. But, I do actively pull against B10 teams, when possible. I agrre about the SEC chest thumping - it's moronic when you're cellar dwellers.

They are spending $45 million for 2026, I’m certain they will improve some. It will continue until empty seats appear in Knoxville, trust me, it’s coming. We spent $100 a month more for food in 2025 compared to 24 and 23. Football tickets will soon be an afterthought.

Pavia was the 'darling' of CFB for a while. Then, he shot his mouth off and acted like a twerp and a lot of fans turned on him. Sorta glad Vandy lost, also.

Man, SEC has been terrible in bowls this year. I know we have 3 of the final 8, but, evidently, the conference wasn't as deep as we thought. Which makes our futility even more embarrassing.

Did you notice the goof by the Vandy punter? He ran past the LOS before punting the ball. The penalty is five yards and loss of down. Since it was fourth down, it's first down Iowa on the Vandy 10 yard line. I've watched college football for over 60 years and this is the first time I've seen such a flag.

Iowa scored a TD on the first play after the punt.

That was a new one for me too.

It might be another 60 years before a similar call is made again!

Hence, a non-moronic reason to hope/expect/cheer for a better conference record.

Thank God for Texas, as this is getting embarrassing for the whole damn conference.

                              Tired of SEC chest thumping????

Get ready for a year’s worth of Big Ten chest thumping, unless there is an All-SEC Final.
