I got to wonder how hard it was for old Mitch to sign off on hiring a football GM and Director of Player Personnel.

If Mitch is indeed planning on retiring, at the end of the school year, he probably sees doing this sort of thing as an opportunity to possibly go out on a high note.

That makes two of us, True. After we took a butt whoopin' from So. Car. in 2024 a game, in which we were highly favored, I said I'd never watch another game as long as Stoops was our coach. Now I'm enthused and excited again.

Excited for sure. Not sure we see many W's next year but excited to see how we play. Hope we contend for some games and maybe win 1 or 3 that were toss ups or we were underdogs. Just cannot wait to see what this young gun can bring to KENTUCKY. Alabama game 2 might be a blessing, (might!), to get them early in the season and not much film on UK at that point. Want to see some stunting with purpose on defense. Want to see some educated razzle dazzle on offense.

Regarding the Bama game and lack of film: I suspect we will be very rough for at least the first third of the season. New coordinators with new schemes to learn. Traditionally it takes the first part of the season to iron out the wrinkles. Now if Michigan were to hire DeBoer, they would also be on a learning curve.

I get that. But it seems like Bama under DeBoer has not been as strong out of the gate to start seasons. Maybe I am thinking of someone else. Of course Bama plays a better non conference schedule typically than we do. So that could be most of it right there.
