According to Mike Craven of Texas Football, Kentucky is hiring UT San Antonio offensive coordinator Justin Burke as the program’s next offensive coordinator. Burke will replace Bush Hamdan, who is not expected to be retained by Stein after two seasons as the Wildcat’s offensive play-caller.

I think Stein will be calling the plays. Burke will be more like an assistant OC. Will probably be up in the box watching the game from on high and reporting to Stein.

Nobody has any idea how much money the team is getting. All those figures that keep getting tossed around are pure speculation. And I want UK football to have as much money as it needs, but not at the expense of basketball.

Think Kyle Flood at Texas or Luke Huard at USC. Sark and Lincoln Riley call the plays, but they still have an OC. Both of those guys also have other responsibilities. Flood coaches the OL and Huard coaches the QB's.

Wonder how widespread that model is in college ball, or if it's trending. I could see having an OC with specific responsibilities like the O-line working really closely with the actual play caller -- might offer some interesting synergies.
