I believe he shows promise but he’s not holding me hostage. If he wants to leave, see ya latter. There’s QB’s out there, Stoops couldn’t, but wouldn’t and believed he shouldn’t develop a passer. He didn’t even try until he absolutely had to.

I'm kind of the same. I thought he played OK. Maybe decent at times. And he probably has an upside as he matures. But he wasn't exactly Tom Brady. -

What happened with Boley?
Did he say something?"How dare you hold me to a standard!"

Said he was caught off guard by Stoops being let go and was evaluating his future plans. I believe I would have said I’ll wait and see what happens and I’ll evaluate my future plans. Or better yet, not say anything until I knew the future. I believe his future is better than ever at UK. Maybe he’s been getting offers.
To answer your other question, I was completely finished with Stoops. Excited again as a result of the changes.

It would not surprise me if Stein brings his own dude. Seems to be the thing these days.
Boley may not have a choice but to evaluate his future plans."How dare you hold me to a standard!"

Max Ponatowski appears to like him. His recruitment came down to UK and Oregon. I think it reinforces the idea we won't lose him to another college. MLB is our competition.Comment

I think Saunders will (and would have done so, regardless) move on. Doesn't look like he's ever going to play at UK: Boley, Ponatoski, Ward - all 3 will be ahead of him starting in the fall, presuming all stay, of course.
I'm wishy washy re: Boley. Had some really good halves/games but, on the whole, had more bad halves than good IIRC. For instance, the articles following the Vandy game stated that he was the lone bright spot. Well, after 43 minutes of football, we had 87 yards and 3 points. Yes, he 'lit it up' in the 4th quarter - against backups playing prevent. His final stats looked good but were wildly misleading. He and the offense did exactly nothing for 3 quarters until the game was so far out of reach that Vandy had a little mercy on us. When pressured, has a tendency to throw the ball up for grabs (maybe inexperience). At times, is very good getting through progressions and, at other times, consistently misses the wide open receiver in lieu of throwing to someone else. I don't believe he's had much coaching as, imo, Hamdan was really bad at his job of QB coach and OC.
If he moves on, I believe Ward will stay and, with Stein as QB coach and OC, he may become a player. What little we saw of him this year was encouraging - seemed to have good pocket awareness, lively arm, seemed to process quickly. I know it was against a patsy but we've seen many backup QBs look like the only thing they're comfortable with is a handoff.
Whoever ends up in the QB room, I expect vastly improved coaching and scheme.👍 4Comment

Boley has shown some flashes of potential and has very good arm talent. But he hasn't shown near enough yet to know he's an SEC QB you can build around. He's not come close to having a good road game yet, for one thing. If he stays I hope Stein can develop him further. But if he leaves I'm not going to be all that broken up.👍 1Comment

I love Boley. LOVE! Come on gang. A redshirt freshman who should have just come to campus last summer (skipped his senior year to be here early). What he did was behind a decent but not SEC quality OL that got lit up with new schemes run a them late in the year. And he did this while WRs were learning as well. Maybe Brady could have done better, but he didn’t mature until late. I hope we get more of Boley. Heck, Stein should understand as good as anyone about what it takes to do well.👍 1Comment

Cutter played well for a freshman, despite some of the situation the coaches put him in. I think he struggled mostly on the road. That's something he will need to be better prepared for if he sticks around. I hope he does. I think with this staff he could make the type of leap Woodson made between his Sophomore and Junior seasons."It don't make much sense that common sense don't make no sense no more" John PrineComment

I think Baseball in general is our competition. Not sure how he will be able to pull double duty or expect to win QB competitions when he's limited or likely can't participate in Spring Practice because it's in the middle of Baseball season. At some point, he will have to decide which future he wants to pursue or which sport is the one he's most likely to have a shot at playing at the next level."It don't make much sense that common sense don't make no sense no more" John PrineComment
