What do you hope the new HC and staff bring to the program?

    1. I'd like to see an offense similar to Vanderbilt's, and others, where we are successful confusing the defense, the defense has to account for the QB, we're smart and take what the defense is giving, don't require elite, NFL-ready talent across the board to be effective.
    2. I'd like to see our defense base be 4-2-5 with creativity in the blitz and coverage packages. I'd like them to be aggressive about creating negative plays and turnovers, not have the goal to make the offense spend 10+ plays in a drive, counting on them being unable to do so. I'd like a DC who has figured out how to defend a mobile QB and TN's spread/tempo offense so we don't have to watch those a-holes score 50+ on us every year.
    3. HC must know how to manage the clock and timeouts. Team must play with discipline, poise and intelligence. ST must be solid. HC has to be a good recruiter AND talent evaluator (a skill lacking in much of our current staff, imo). Roster building and maintenance must be strong. Backups should play as much as possible so we're building depth for a long season, we can replace an injured player without huge dropoff in talent/experience, etc.

What I really hope for is the incoming coach and staff are so wildly successful that the NFL or a blue blood program desperately courts them after 3-4 years. Finding a replacement for a coach that has done that well will be relatively easy and the cupboard won't have tumbleweeds blowing through it.

My biggest quality is to have already adapted to the new age of college football. Come to the table with a true GM in mind and have that position as part of the package of becoming the new coach. Pantoni at Ohio State is the blue print for success in that position and known as the top dog among college football GM's. We have to have a young, innovative coach that embraces the new era of college football.

NBC Sports reporter stating the players on the UK team think Kelly is the next coach. KSR also stating something about a call. Have no idea, all the rumors will swirl for sure.

                Quality:
                1. A coach that knows the X's and O's for sure.
                2. A coach that can coach to the players they have and not try to make a square peg fit a round hole.
                3. A coach that will know how to make in game adjustments with his coordinators and also make adjustments at the half.
                4. A coach that will make sure plays get in on time, there are 11 guys on the field all times, disciplined team things like that.
5 A coach with a staff that can get SEC level talent.

I’d be thrilled with Stein or Hartline.

He was the head coach at Oregon during their run from 2009-2012 and the HC at UCLA from 2018-2023. Coached the Eagles and Niners in between and was the OC at Ohio State last year and just got fired as the OC of the Raiders. I don't think it has any legs and is just an internet thing. It would be a horrible hire. The game has passed him by.

Word out there is it’s probably Stein. But Mitch is in Columbus interviewing Hartline now.

Hopefully the next coach has an idea of what kind of offense he wants to run. This revolving door with oc coaches has to stop.

                              Chip Kelly from WIKI

He came to prominence as a college football head coach at the Oregon Ducks from 2009 to 2012, leading them to the 2011 BCS National Championship Game. Kelly's success led to a stint in the NFL, where he coached for four seasons, three with the Philadelphia Eagles (20132015) and one with the San Francisco 49ers (2016). After the NFL, Kelly returned to college in 2018 as the head coach for the UCLA Bruins, coaching for six seasons before leaving in 2024 to join Ohio State as their offensive coordinator. Kelly was hired by the Raiders to be their offensive coordinator in 2025, but was fired after Week 12 following a 2–9 start to the season.
