Interesting take on the Kiffin sweepstakes.

Yup, it is a guy listening to offers, asking for what he wants, probably even allowing Ole Miss to try to match.
If I were Lane, when someone demanded something by a specific date, I would have pulled up the contract and asked where in the world that is in the contract. Now if you do not want me here, fire me. Otherwise I make my decision when I darn well please.

This kind of social media fodder is what we all get mixed up in sometimes. I do not care about Lane's past and how he handled jobs. Has nothing to do with this job. If Ole Miss was worried then they should have a clause that during the season (and into post season) you are not allowed to take calls about jobs (which no coach or agent would allow in said contract).

The writer of that article sounds like he's on Jimmy Sexton's payroll. Kiffin isn't a bad guy for leaving one job for what he believes is a better job. He's a bad guy for being so big an egomaniac to draw out the entire process so long in order to try to coach two teams at once. Two teams in the same conference. Border rivals whose fanbases hate each other, particularly Rebels as it pertains to Tigers. He decided to take the LSU job probably a week ago. Kudos to the Ole Miss administration for telling him to take his 'stay through the playoff' idea and shove it.

Him staying through the playoffs probably holds the team together and gives them a chance to win.

Kiffin departing now almost guarantees no chance to win in the playoffs.

Hell, it should probably push them out of the CFP. They won't be the same team and it's nearly a guaranteed bye for the team that plays them first.

        It's a nutty system.

Recruiting cycle should be moved to the off season to avoid these scenarios. Move all recruiting periods to February to July.

I don't really have a dog in this hunt. UK will do everything in their power to screw up in this and, probably, the next cycle. It seems to be a theme with UK. Handicap the program at all costs.
