Barnhart needed to be gone like 5 years ago. Some of the worst contracts in the history of UK sports.

We all know how the Cal era ended but when he hired BCG, Cal was the hottest commodity in college basketball. He didn’t even call him and was basically forced to hire him the second time around. Then his lifetime contract…

    Stoops contract…

He was about 3 years behind the times on NIL.

Pope hire seemed panicked and rushed. Jury is definitely still out there but it’s looking to be a bad hire if you ask me.

Glad some of the other sports have fared well but really only two sports resonate with 98% of the fanbase and those two have sucked for the past several years.

Wonder if we are going for the admin hitting a 2 fer on departures. Mitch and Stoops some how. Or it is the first step to give Stoops very few allies on the admin.

Heard Marc Hill would be the likely replacement. Peevy is just Matt Jones (who broke this rumor) bestie and on his wish list.

I don't think a move will be made on Stoops until the new AD.

Might even be why Barnhart leaves.

In Barnhart's defense at the time, regarding Cal, he was fresh off his second sort of major scandal with the Derek Rose thing and didn't exactly have a sterling reputation. Barnhart was leery of getting us into another NCAA cheating scandal. Now, yeah, BCG was a colossal cluster cluck, but Cal's reputation was sour at the time, and it was a reputation he carried for many years even after he got here. Mitch had to pretty much have his hand forced hiring Cal even the second time around.

If Barnhart decides to leave and announces that in January and the replacement is announced as Marc Hill, who is his right hand man, then I don't think that matters. Marc Hill is a football guy primarily so we better hope it's him if it's between him and an uninspiring Peevy who has done nothing of note at DePaul.
