    Brohm to UF

With that in mind, the Gators are likely going to have to offer a massive contract to secure their top choice, and college football analyst Aaron Torres believes that could be Louisville head coach Jeff Brohm

    10 year $100m

An analyst predicts that Florida could offer an ACC head coach $100M to secure one of their top candidates to replace Billy Napier.

I would be cautious taking the Florida job at this moment.

If it were me being offered that job...

I'd need to take a look to see what has happened BIG PICTURE.

Why is every team in Florida down? For instance.

Is the Florida recruiting landscape denuded of football players?

Miami can't remain good through a whole season.

Florida State can't remain good through a whole season.

Florida hasn't been great for nearly a decade. Maybe more.

    What is happening in Florida?

Are FIU and FCU and USF and all of the little Florida teams eating too much into the field to allow the Big Time programs to be dominant?

    What is it?

Are there just too many teams taking pieces off of the table that were historically Gators territory? Hurricanes or Seminole territory?

I'd investigate this if I were offered that job.

    What is the recruiting landscape?

Maybe it's just that the coaches aren't that great. Could be.

But something is going on in Florida.

A State that used to dominate college football or were top 13 consistently now can't field a single program that consistently wins.

I'd have to answer that question first.

Then....if it's just the coaches who suck...roll on in and see if I'm good enough.

Is it recruiting that has suffered due to diffusion of interest or lack of interest on the part of Floridians, can that once fertile ground be replenished or replaced?

    College football is 20% coaching, 60% recruiting/talent/player development/replacement, 15% program/fan support, 5% tradition/history. Something of that mix but that's where I'd place it.

Yet, something is amiss in Florida.

Before I went to Florida, I'd want to know what I was walking into...

I can't see him leaving especially with his entire family living here in Louisville

If Florida is dumb enough to offer a 10-year contract with, presumably, a ton of guaranteed money, they should fire the AD immediately. How many schools are going to have to eat huge buyouts before they get even a little smart?

My working theory is, especially at a place like Florida, if Brohm is great down there and decides to leave after 4 years, the program is going to be in a MUCH better place when he leaves than when he arrived. Which should mean that maintaining a high level should be easier than trying to pull them up from an ass-kicking from UK to the CFP. Brohm didn't exactly set the world on fire at Purdue. He's done better at UofL (easier conference) but he's not a sure-thing to be great at Florida, I wouldn't think. I thought Brian Kelly would do well at LSU when he'd won big everywhere else he's coached and he got canned.

With the Brohm family being Louisville fixture's I find it hard to believe, but stranger things have happened. I thought the only way Brohm might leave would be for an NFL job. But heck, they don't pay as much as college these days. However, if he did leave, I wonder if that would vault Brian to the front to take over at Louisville? He's been working under his brother for a while now. I could easily see that. If not, I would have to think their first call would be to Will Stein.

I suspect Louisville's loss Sat night will take some of Jeff's allure. In addition they have Clemson and SMU the next two weeks.

A couple of articles I read mentioned that his name was being considered, but both pundits thought it was a very long shot that he'd leave UofL. Has a good contract, emotional ties to the university and city, easier conference, less ridiculous expectations. If he goes to FL with a huge contract, it will come with huge expectations. At UofL, he's 'one of their own come home' and he has a lot of rope before the hometown fans get tired of him. I don't know what he's making but I'd guess it's several million, which, last time I checked, was sufficient to make ends meet in Louisville, KY.

Maybe he’ll stay in Lville but use the other offers to work out a $100mil deal for himself. Perhaps keeping him will use up the available funds and they won’t be able to afford players. Could work out great for us.

I read, somewhere, that he makes, I believe, 5.9 million a year.

Brohm seems pretty loyal, and I would be very surprised if he leaves ul at this moment. I don't think he's a lifer over there, but he's going want to accomplish some more at ul before leaving for a bigger job.
