The days of 'I'll take the family out for a ballgame and some snacks and not have to get a 2nd (or 3rd) mortgage on the house' are long gone. Most/all of the owners are billionaires, or close enough, and they make 10s of millions of dollars every year just from the TV revenue. Must they pile on (football reference!) the average Joe by boning them on ticket, concession, merch, parking, etc. prices, too? It's the fans that, ultimately, are the driving force behind all the TV revenue so, in effect, the teams are already pulling big bucks out of the average Joe's wallet even before they rape them on ticket prices, etc.
Totally agree. These schools / pro teams figured out a way to take off the top and if vendor does well off the bottom as well. Vendors not doing as well they get less.

Beginning in 1954 (at the age of 10) I would follow UK fb and bb no matter whether they were competitive or not. I haven't watched a UK fb game in nearly two seasons simply because it hasn't been entertaining. I haven't watched a pro game of any kind in decades.
First off let me say I'm 46 not that it matters but funny you say this I used to be a Dallas Cowboys , Yankees, Miami Heat , and FC Cincy on the Pro side and probably about 5 years ago I just quit keeping up with the pros at all.

I live and die UK in all sports Calipari about had me turned off on the basketball team after not missing any basketball over all my years but Pope has reenergized that. Now with Stoops (I play Bingo on Saturday's with my wife) these past couple of years if I'm able to catch a football game I'll watch it if I miss it oh well I usually know what the outcome and effort will be because I know he's finished here. I used to never miss a game in neither of the 2 major sports. Heck I watch the women's basketball team as religiously as possible (I've fone this over the years anyway as much as football and men's basketball) , even try to watch both of our soccer teams when they're on, and I even try to watch the volleyball team because Skinner is a heckuva coach too.

Then the 1.5 profit is due to the price of the booth itself. I have a gourmet popcorn business and before covid UK contacted me wanting me to have a tent at UK games around the concession area. My $6 dollar bag of caramel corn was going to have to be marked up to $12 bucks for me to make a small profit. I decided not to do UK as I could pay $200 bucks for a festival, sell my caramel corn for $6 bucks a bag and in a day make around 1100.00 for a small festival (1day) and much more for larger festivals. At UK my $6.00 a bag (UK food service was going to get another 25% on top of the $6 bucks that was already coming out off the top. So even if I sold 5k worth of caramel or cheese popcorn my profit by the time paying staff (which I did not have to do at a festival as wife and I would do all the work) would be maybe $200 dollars for the day. Fans overcharged for product and such. But the rest I agree 100%.
I like popcorn. Where can I get a bag?

We were in The Summit at Fritz Farm Barn (food court) then when COVID hit they decided to not do food court any longer. We had just been in there for 6 months (after being in the farmers market for 6 months). We lost our spot and are still paying bills back now while working our other jobs. We have not been able to reopen (cannot find a spot that is affordable). Everything rent wise would pretty much be working 30 days a month to pay bills and not make money.

I have my equipment in storage. Once we can we will reopen. We were know for about 100 flavors of popcorn. We would do about 10 to 12 at a time or you could order specific flavor which would be made and you come pick up. Our best sellers were our Hillbilly Heat caramel corn, Beer Cheese popcorn, mountain caramel recipe, cheddar. Our more upscale is Smores, KY blackberry jam cake caramel, banana pudding, Elvis pineapple upside down cake.

Well I hope you can get it reopened at some point. I'll definitely be a customer if you do. Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks. I quit microwave corn. Love using my WhirlyPop on the stove. would love to learn how to tinker with different flavors using that.

One of the easiest if you like sweet and salt popcorn (like at fairs) is to use a heavy bottomed pot, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil, coconut oil is how we popped all our corn, on stove top add 1/2 cup to 3/4 of kernals of popcorn. Start stovetop on med/high temp, take the pot and move back and forth over burner till you hear it sizzle and after a minute of sizzle put in 2 to 3 tablespoons of sugar, let pop. You have a basic kettle corn.

One of the easy treats that is kicked up is basic popcorn like above without the sugar. Pop. Have some white melting chocolate or melting chocolate, melt a 1/3 of a cup per directions pour over the popcorn and mix. Then pop another batch of normal popcorn and mix the two, add things like mini M&M or other sweet or salty snack stuff you like (nuts and such) and you have a very easy basic treat for the holidays. Teddy graham cookie/crackers are really good, chocolate chips and those dried small marshmallows you add to hot chocolate and you have smores popcorn. You get some Za'atar spice and you have a middle eastern flavor popcorn. Things like that. Cheddar cheese powder after popping before cooling and you sprinkle in pop where you popped the corn, mix and have. If you take cheddar powder, mix in spices like ancho chili power or chipotle chili powder and you have a spicy cheesy popcorn. You can get online and get spice mixes for popcorn as well.
