'Schematic changes' have helped Cutter, according to Hamdan

In the last couple of games, we've concentrated on short, quick passes and getting the ball out of Cutter's hands quicker rather than plays designed to go way down the field, (paraphrasing from an article on another UK site), and it looks to me like it's a very prudent change. I guess we'll see over the next couple of games as we face much better defenses than TN's.

But, after the complete disaster of last year's offense and the complete disaster of the offense the first several games where we continually tried to force long pass plays, why did it take him so long to change what we're doing on offense? We should've made this change after the SC game LAST year. We didn't have an OL who could hold blocks long enough for the long route trees to develop but we never seemed to change scheme or the play calling. I'm guessing it was his decision to make these changes this year (maybe Stoops told him to quit throwing bombs), but how many games can your offense be completely impotent before you decide to try something different? Heck, Calzada may have been a lot better with quick reads and getting the ball out early in the season instead of hanging in the pocket and letting the rush get to him.

Between playing some of the younger WRs who have stepped up and working the short and intermediate routes heavily, I can almost become convinced that the offense is far from hopeless. Again, I want to see production against AU and FL's stouter defenses before I'm completely convinced. But, geez, 100+ posters on the UK fan sites have been screaming through their keyboard to make these exact changes for over a year now. How stupid/hard headed/incompetent do you have to be to keep banging your head against the wall and wondering why you have a headache?

Bush wants to be the new HC.
Going forward, Christian Laettner volunteers to catch any dildos flung on a basketball court - or anywhere else.

God, help us. Don't put ideas in Barnhart's head. I'm a long time follower and alum from UK, but I'm done if they do something as idiotic as that (hire Mumme again, Gruden, Scangarello, other failed HCs or OCs). I don't think they would, but never say never.

They need a coach that will get hired away in 4 years because he's done such a remarkable job at UK.

At this point, UK needs to fund some bio-research, somehow obtain Bryant's DNA, and figure out how to clone him.

Hamdan is a day late and a dollar short. Too late to make changes now.

I can't say that either Boley or Hamdan distinguished themselves tonight against Auburn, although we somehow pulled out the win. I counted at least 3 passes that should have been intercepted that weren't and, of course, there was one that was intercepted that we punched it out on the runback and recovered (a HUGE play). At least a handful of others that I believe a receiver was open and he never saw him. Definitely not his best game tonight. I would guess somewhere between the TN and AU game is most likely his true level, which may be fine, just not elite, imo.

Hamdan's play calling was very vanilla tonight, I thought. Not many wrinkles and even the short passing game seemed predictable. The running attack had no where to go all night and Hamdan did not call many misdirection plays to perhaps catch Auburn overpursuing for a decent run. I don't recall - did we run a screen to a back at all tonight? As hard as Auburn was selling out on the run early in the set of downs, sure seems like a screen to a back with a couple of OL in front would have been a really effective call.

It's my opinion Hamdan is, and has been, full of you know what. I don't believe anything he says.
