After watching UK freshman wideouts doing well, I started to think. Why on earth would a good player be held back if he is ready, for a redshirt year?
In the past that was good science, today with NIL I'd call that foolish. Put em on the field or they'll probably hit the portal anyway.

DJ Miller would have been playing earlier, but he was injured and is now recovered enough to play. But to your point, they should just allow a fifth year of eligibility and do away with the redshirt status. 5 years to play five.
