    Before we overreact

TN total defense ranks 92nd and their scoring defense ranks 108th. UK ranks 70th and 82nd in those same categories.

Our next opponent, Auburn, ranks 30th in total defense and 23rd in scoring defense.

As optimistic as I was about how well the offense played last night, statistically, TN's defense is worse than UK's. I was unaware of that until I read an article this morning and looked up the stats on the NCAA site. Certainly, Georgia's is much better and we moved the ball pretty well, although didn't score much.

Auburn should test our offense a lot more than TN's did. Hopefully, all the good things we saw last night carry over into the remaining games. I think the Auburn game will give us a better picture of where we truly are on offense.

Kinda thought the same thing. It's a good post, but hopefully nobody is feeling positive at all losing by 22 at home to anyone.

^More about what I perceived as optimism for the remaining games due to the offense's effectiveness last night on a couple other UK sites. Losing by 3 TDs doesn't engender much optimism in me, for sure.

Have to wonder how much of that is part and parcel to their offensive system being fast scoring. Their defense gets little to no rest between their boom or bust drives. Tennessee isn't one for long sustained, clock eating drives. They either score fast or have a quick out and punt. They can have some great defensive players, but if they're gassed, it's hard to perform at a high level.

Agreed. I knew you weren't being optimistic yourself, but rather trying to tamper it in those that might be. And I agree with you 100%. There is nothing positive in a 22 point loss at home.

They had a tremendous defense last season running the same offense.
