Towles is no surprise as the starter. He deserves it and obviously earned it. I wonder if Drew really pushed him that much or was it just a motivation factor. The staff has been high on Westry. A good talent at the CB spot and he is big. I like the look of our defense not only for this year but the future as well. We were decent aginst the pass last year but that's because teams ran over us at will. That needs to change ASAP.

Based on what we thought we knew, yes. Based on what CMS knows, not. I take the latter point as meaning we're better off with him gone & his being part of the future was only a a figment. Too bad for both parties.

I'm not sure what Drew could have done given his lack of game experience. Just can't beat that unless you're h&s above him in talent. Have to think Barker will get some chances to show though.

Continuity of O-Line growth and development, especially where we are right now, would have been thoroughly blessed by Jones had he worked out.

We seem to be seeing a reduction in steps backward after periods of growth, but unfortunately this is a step backward. Hope we can find a nice JUCO or other such player to make an impact while the incoming frosh get ready. I guess Jones will have to go JUCO?

This is unfortunate and I never like seeing a young person lose an opportunity. I've seen this happening the past week at more than a few schools as pressure and stress increase and lineups get shuffled. We've lost a couple of OL so this makes 3? Stuff happens. Good stuff happens too but we may not notice it as readily. Probability indicates Barker will get a chance. I can't remember us making it through a year with only one QB.

I don't see this as a loss at all. Sometimes you have addition by subtraction. Had he been a factor in the future, that would've been like found money IMO but there were rumblings when he came that there was some baggage involved and the statement was made that Stoops wouldn't put up with any foolishness - and he evidently didn't.

Doesn't impact anything as far as I can see as we have a lot of options at guard and since he wasn't enrolled (I assume) it doesn't impact our 25 limits. Would've been a nice practice squad player this year but that is the extent of it going forward.
