The Stoops era appears to be coming to a end Justin Rowland rivals

1,238 likes, 66 comments - kentuckyfootballnews on October 19, 2025: "BIG BLUE BUZZ ?? Rivals’ Justin Rowland reports that there’s been a noticeable shift behind the scenes since Kentucky’s loss to Texas and this time, the talk seems to be coming more from Mark Stoops’ side. For the first time, Rowland says it feels likely that real conversations could soon take place about Stoops’ future in Lexington. Sources now believe Stoops may be open to discussing the details of his contract, a change in tone that hadn’t been there before. If a move happens, Rowland believes it would be mutual, professional, and respectful for all sides. Big Blue Nation, things might be getting interesting in the Bluegrass… ? #BBN".

I don't know if I'm ready to believe this yet. We already thought Bush Hamdan was gone two weeks ago and he's still here.

Let's hope so. The best for both parties would be for Stoops to negotiate the buyout and resign amicably, He can agree to coach out the remainder of the season, but allow for a new coaching search to be started. I offer no ill will towards Stoops and hope we can bring him back someday to honor him and put his name in the ring of honor. He deserves that. But it is time for a change and Stoops knows the fans aren't happy anymore. Tough to coach and recruit when you don't have support these days.

          Sums up my thinking perfectly.

I do respect what Stoops did for UK football, but it is time for something new for both parties. I would be pretty surprised if a move is made before season's end, but like mentioned this can start the back channel talk; if this is true.

If what Rowland is saying is true, then it’s Stoops who is reaching out. Maybe I’m wrong but I think he’d want to give UK the flexibility to get a high quality coach such as Sumrall while he, CMP, coaches out the season. An amicable and professional parting of the ways gives Stoops the opportunity to leave on a positive note with his reputation largely intact. Who knows, he may decide to look after his business interests and get out of coaching altogether—there is certainly a family precedent—or take a ceremonial role of sorts with the school. JMO

I hope Stoops does leave, we have a great young QB and should have won that game against Texas. Hopefully we can get a great coach that can get UK to winning some SEC games.

Even if all of this is true, I don't think there will be any sort of announcement until we are mathematically eliminated from a Bowl.
