A couple guys not named here who I think could good good hires:

Glenn Schumann at UGA. Took over as DC when Lanning left and UGA fans will tell you they thought Schumann had the better ceiling of the 2 as a HC. Young guy (35), who got his first full-time coaching gig at 26 as the inside LB's coach at UGA.

Kenny Dillingham at ASU - Huge second year last year and having another good year this year. Another young guy (35) who became the OC at Auburn at 29 and was Dan Lanning's first OC at Oregon.

If you want to see failure as a head coach, then Vince would be that. Vince has a really good skill of connecting with families and building relationships. He does not have a great skill of coaching football. It would be an absolute disaster.

Interesting that he was on the list for youngstown state at one time.

            Hartline at Ohio State
            Oregon OC
            Oklahoma OC
            Bama OC
Oregon's OC Will Stein has Kentucky ties. Played for UofL but his Dad played for UK. I worked for for his Uncle for a few years back in the late 90's early '00's . I think he should be high on the list.

Did you see the disaster Louisville Basketball became when they hired Kenny Payne? That's what would happen if we hired Vince.

No. Worse. Look, we aren't great, we need a new coach, but we aren't bottom 10 of FBS College football bad like Louisville basketball was for Division 1 basketball there for a couple of years.

Mullen is an indifferent recruiter. But there is a case to be made that in this brave new world of portal and NIL, if you pair him with a strong GM/Personnel hire, he could do a helluva job at a place like UK.

Didn't Mullins get fired for losing to Kentucky?

He got fired because after losing to UGa he was asked about recruiting and replied with "We'll do recruiting after the season. When it gets to recruiting season we can talk recruiting." A day or two later Kirby Smart talked about how Georgia recruits 365/24/7. Mullen was dead man walking in Gainesville at that moment. Kentucky just happened to be the next team on the schedule and beat them. And that '21 UK team was good, regardless of how bad things have gone since. The way the CFB world has changed, Mullen could be a good option if you have someone else handling talent procurement. The guy can still scheme up some offense.

He’s a great coach no doubt, but his lack of desire to recruit the best to his system has kept him from reaching even his own potential. So yeah he would need a staff full of top notch recruiters.

Yeah, you're talking about an FCS program vs an SEC program. Two completely different worlds.
