But unlike Pope, not a perennial national title contender.

But I suspect he could be if he was coaching a national title contending team.

That's my point. It was a no-brainer for Pope to come home. UK basketball has all the resources and commitment to be a title contending team. They don't in football. And the other guys do.

          Sorry, I missed your point.

There is no way in Hades Mark Stoops gets Va Tech job, none. UK fans can wish in one hand and crap in other and see which one fills up faster. I too think he will be gone next season but we are going to have to pay him, can't wish the contract away as much as we would like to. As for the new coach Sumrall isn't the only fish in sea should he opt for a higher profile job. Personally I like the guy from Memphis better.

I agree that I feel this is Coach's last year here. As far as who gets the slot I've no clue. I anticipate Florida and Auburn being open. The Penn State slot is a big one, and I'm sure North Carolina will have looks.

Makes the phrase " we are just getting started bro" even more appropriate. My concern is that MB will be so hesitant to make a call we end up with a whole litany of 'coulda been us' hand wringing.

Dunno. This is gonna be tougher than it should have been.

Hopefully someone that's capable will step in and point Mitch in the right direction when it's time for a coaching search.
