Stoops mentioned for Virginia Tech Job?

I truly believe Stoops had stayed to long at UK much like Calipari did. I have been ready for Stoops to leave 4-5 years now. Hope he leaves after this season for another job.

And the problem with this scenario is UK is still firing him and paying his buyout, unless the VaTech deal was worked out beforehand and Stoops let’s UK out of the buyout so he can join VaTech sooner. Seems unlikely.

Also, to the extend the Beamer name means anything in Blacksburg, it’s hard to imagine they hire Shane’s nemesis, who also can’t seem to beat him. Like admitting defeat in the hiring process. I have to think they would prefer Shane to Stoops.

Which is why we wouldn't fire him till after the season, and most of the candidates on their list are likely still coaching elsewhere too, unless it's somebody that's been out of the game this past year. Hell, if VT was seriously considering him, Mitch should get on the phone with their AD and offer them a few million and maybe a future game to tip the scales. Get us off way cheaper.

Stoops is a great,great coach.
we have been blessed with having him as our head Coach and any school that hires him will be very lucky also.
VT, if you're serious about Stoops, then I would hate to lose him but my only consolation would be knowing that he landed at a great football school such as yours.

Stoops is still a very good coach despite the last couple seasons. He would crush it at VT and have them top 5 in the ACC pretty quickly. Also would be best for us so we can go all in for Sumrall. Just like Cal to Arkansas it would be good for all parties involved.

Let me splain.

Not the story itself. Rumors that lead to stories like this. Anyone that looks at Stoops as a serious candidate either have 1 of 2 things going on.
1. They are a worse AD than Mitch B.
2. They are having a some sort of Brain Trauma.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt all the way up to the end of last year, and I was willing to see if the changes he made and the players he brought in would equate to at least being able to make a bowl game. That doesn't appear like it's going to happen now barring a miracle, so I'm firmly in the "need to move on" camp. I harbor no ill will towards Stoops either. He accomplished some very good things here. I hope he can leave amicably and come back in a couple of years to be enshrined in the ring of honor. He deserves that. but It's time for a fresh face and renewed enthusiasm.
