Multiple details make this situation a powder keg. The contract runs through June 30, 2031, with Stoops' annual salary being $9 million. If Kentucky terminates the agreement, they would owe him 75% of the remaining salary. This would be approximately $40.5 million after the 2025 season, paid in a lump sum

The buyout must be paid in full within 60 days if Stoops is fired. Unlike other contracts that stretch payments over years, this one demands a lump sum, essentially a check the size of a capital project.

The cost of attending UK sporting events, among other things, is about to take a major hit.

That will be a losing proposition....at least for football.

UK needs to keep him until the costs is lower or he moves on. Time to pay for our sins for offering a greedy price for an average team.

I’m somewhat inclined to agree. I have a hard time paying $15 for nachos at a ballgame, the thought of paying $40m to a guy because he’s bad at his job makes my stomach churn. Cut off his resources and tell him he’s on his own, if he can raise the NIL to get the players he wants good for him. Make the basketball team look like an NBA roster and Stoops can coach through the rest of his contract. Something tells me he’ll find a way out on his own.

Need to make him feel uncomfortable so he will move on.
