ESPN ranked all 68 P4 teams QB - guess where we were ranked?

No surprise - dead last. By itself, that should be a firable offense. I mean, 13 years into Stoops tenure and we have the WORST QB in major college football. If I were a betting man, I'd guess over the past 13 years, we'd certainly be in the lowest quintile for several of those years (Levis, maybe Leary, Johnson would have escaped the lowest 10%). Embarrassing is not the word I would use to describe this. Unacceptable. Inexcusable. More along those lines.

There are probably many factors that account for consistently, measurably bad QB play. Scheme, talent, coaching, philosophy, competition, whatever - one more glaring data point that Stoops hasn't and probably won't figure out what to do on offense.

Whoever we end up hiring as our next coach, I hope and pray he has both an offensive and defensive philosophy/scheme that he's NOT going to change every other year. Something we can recruit to, create and maintain a certain identity and, hopefully, win a few more games with it. You can't go from Air Raid, to RPO, to NFL and back to whatever the hell we're doing now and expect to have success. It really smacks of desperation that we haven't decided THIS is what we're going to run and recruit to and live or die with.

The completely inability to recruit and develop a three or four year starter at QB will be Stoops’ downfall. We’ll never know what might have happened if Barker had never been injured….

I do believe that CMP will leave after this year. In my humble opinion, his heart just isn’t in it any longer.

Did not read but am sure we should be dead last. If not the author needs to go back and look at the last 16 or so power 4 games we have played and our record against. I am sure we are close to the worst. On top of that our 3 or 4 wins each year are typically (not always) against lower ranked teams over the past 2 years.

It's been pretty much an annual discussion under this regime. Just a year here or there when we had a QB who was at least decent returning was when the discussion was much less. But, I'd guess 9 of the 13 years, it's been a situation that continually holds us back year after year. No excuse for that this many years into his career here.

I think we might have had a decent one last year, but since we had no O Line we got him killed so quickly we couldn't tell.

We also had Levis, and while he was decent here, we made him look worse than he is.

This year, our QB might look OK if we had any receivers whatsoever that could get open.

What I'm saying is that the team makes the QB. Or at least it makes a significant part of him.

With Stoops’ perennial QB struggles in mind, it’s worth noting that Vandy’s QB is 2nd on the list and Indiana’s is 4th. If you’re not a program that stocks the roster with four and five star talent, one way to punch above your weight is really good QB play. We obviously don’t have that this year, and that’s been the norm.

I bet if you go back and check this ranking of Stoops QB's his tenure here we probably sit at the near bottom every single year minus maybe a few.

If I'm not mistaken, both of those squads use a lot of RPO concepts and include the QB in the running game, making the defense account for him. IMO, that helps to overcome a lack of playmakers elsewhere. In contrast, we don't have quality SEC players up and down the roster but we run an offensive scheme that requires that we do. As a result, we may have wonderfully designed plays but, if the receivers/OL/TEs/RBs can't beat their man, they go nowhere.
