Cutter Boley listed as QB1 for South Carolina

Hopefully he plays well. I from the comments that Stoops made, it sounds like Calzada is not 100%. Also it lists Calzada or Beau Allen as QB2.

Honestly, I think it makes more sense to play him at this point regardless of Calzada’s status. I’m under no illusion that changing QBs will instantly fix our offense, but Calzada has shown enough that we can be reasonably sure he isn’t a difference maker as a 7th year senior. Might as well give Boley some real experience and see if he shows any signs of improving into the guy we can count on going forward.

Stoops said Calzada is still recovering from his shoulder injury.

Unless Boley just craps the bed or does things that deserve a benching, then he should stay QB1 moving forward. I hate QB's losing their spot to an injury, but if Boley is supposed to be the future and a potential 3-4 year starter, then we need to be playing him now. Even if he goes through a season like Andre Woodson did his sophomore year when he took over. Woodson's leap from Sophomore to Junior year was astronomical.

Calzada was a mistake in the first place. We can see Key and Brown are doing well at other places. Stoops is the issue. Stoops stated he was going to build the program around Cutter and goes out and gets a 3* from podunk u.

This staff did a major disservice to Boley by trotting Calzada out as the starter for the 1st 2 games. I said it all offseason, Boley needed all the live reps he could get. Calzada is 7th year wash up that has proven at 3 stops that he is not an SEC QB. Boley, if healthy, should be our starter from here out.

Is Stone Saunders the other backup QB?

I'm not sure it might be Beau Allen. Beau actually has more college playing experience than either Cutter or Stone.

Beau Allen got snaps at the end of the Eastern Michigan game, I assume he's QB2 if Calzada can't go. They may keep Saunders out to preserve his redshirt. He can still play in four games though, but you don't burn those this early in the season in case of an emergency. It's why Boley didn't see action till late last year. He was able to play but maintained his redshirt.

I'm in the group that wonders if Cutter is Division I material.
Saturday is going to give us a little more insight as to if Cutter
is ready for the big lights at South Carolina. Right now he is the best option Kentucky has,Calzada looked really bad in the games that he played.

I know he struggled against Louisville last year, but He looked pretty solid being thrown into the fire on the road at Texas. Doesn't get much bigger of a stage than that. He has a couple of starts under his belt and a little experience playing in a big time atmosphere like Texas now, so I think he'll be up to the challenge. Hoping the week off helped too. OL just has to keep him protected and give him some time, and we're going to need big games from McGowan and Dowdell.

Cutter can definitely spin it. I think it's rather obvious that he has the look of someone who can be a really good qb. It's fair to wonder if he can reach his full potential here given that Stoops hasn't had an elite qb.
