Vandy putting a whooping on USC, Sellers hurt

If anyone thinks Vandy is a probable win for UK, think again. Went into Billy Brice and are up 31-7 late in the 4th. USC's QB Sellers got hurt so that could be a big factor when we play them in 2 weeks.

But, I'm not seeing more than one more win unless this team really gets its crap together in a big way.

Imagine if Kentucky had a coach with imagination.

But...we got Stoops and run it up the middle.....or to the left.

      What is up with that.

Run it to the left constantly and obviously and it doesn't work but keep doing it.

Whatever magic Stoops had, he's lost it.

        Gone!

It's in the contract 9 million GURANTEED.... When you make that much money and are within the top 10 in America on getting paid you don't have nothing to worry about when your buyout is so high your job is really super secure. He doesn't have to worry about getting the same results as his pay would suggest that he needs to work towards.

            Right you are.

If my public school math is correct, $9,000,000 a year breaks down to $750,000 per month. No telling what other perks CMS gets (maybe car and housing allowances?). Shouldn't be too hard for him to make ends meet.

Not sure South Carolina is all that great of a team, with or without Sellers. Va Tech just fired their coach after an 0-3 start to the season. They lost to SC 24-11. it was actually the closest game they've played so far. They got clobbered by Vandy and Old Dominion. OD beat them 45-26. Vandy just rolled SC and had a 14-7 lead before Sellers went out of the game with a concussion. I'm figuring he'll be back for the game against us. Regardless, I think if we start Boley and the Defense that played the first couple of games shows up, We can possible get a win in Columbia. Only problem is we have a bye week and Stoops record out of bye weeks is not so swell. I think if we can keep the game in the 20's we can pull out a win.

Agree that USC is not all that. But, they weren't as good, imo, last year as they looked against us as we played like we hadn't practiced in a month and had no gameplan. Beamer LOVES to beat UK so I think they'll be ready. Going to their place is tough, too. Their defense lost a lot of talent but they'll still pressure the QB and put us in situations that limit our options. If we come to play and have a solid gameplan, I believe we can beat them. But, I have little faith in Hamdan and only slightly more in Stoops, especially after a bye week as we've pretty much crapped the bed every time during Stoops' tenure. I'm still not convinced our defense is anything above average and, historically, we've had an immensely difficult time defending QBs who can and will run the ball. Sellers being 240 lbs won't be an asset to our undersized interior LBs, imo.

We won't be woefully outmatched in Columbia, for sure. But, I have sadly lost a lot of faith in this staff and their ability to get the best out of the team. If we make some critical mistakes early, it could get out of hand very quickly like it did last year.

Admittedly SC looked bad in their first game last year before they played us, but they did go on to win 9 games, so they were much better than that first game showed. Their problem at the moment is they have no great receivers, so they are kinda like us in a sense that their offense is struggling despite having a solid QB in Sellers. I'm not sure how severe his concussion is, but I'm sure he'll be back before they play us. They get another test when they have to face Missouri this weekend while we rest and gather a lot of game film to scout. If they struggle, their season could go off the rails pretty quick, kinda like Florida's just might if they aren't able to get on track either. I'll hold judgement till after I see what they do against Missouri this week, but if they struggle, I'm liking our chances, especially if Boley gets the start.

Couple of other fun games to watch will be Florida/Miami and Ole Miss/Tulane. Will be fun to see how well Sumrall can handle Ole Miss.

This thought just entered my mind. Wouldn't it be something if both So. Car. and Ky had decent seasons and Beamer left for Va. Tech and So. Car. took Stoops? I know it isn't going to happen, especially Stoops to So. Car. but it's a fun thought.
