That may be true - I'll grant him that. But, he also said 'we played winning football for most of the game' and I have to take issue with that statement.
Ole Miss ran up almost 500 yards and 30 points. The defense was great for a few series and a sieve for several. Can't say I would put their performance in the 'winning football for most of the game' category.
The offense, until the last, pretty meaningless drive, had less than 300 yards total offense and 20 points, 10 which the defense practically gave them. Yes, they had some good plays and a nice drive or two. But, disorganization, critical false start/illegal formation/holding calls crippled some drives, insanely bad play calling at times, poor execution by the QB on many passing plays, embarrassingly bad clock management by the staff and players, etc. outweigh by quite a margin the good the offense did, imo.
If what we saw on the whole of Saturday's game is 'winning football', then we really are doomed. After the patsy of EMU, who we should beat by no less than 4 TDs, we go to SC, then to Georgia then host TX. We could easily be 2-4 at the halfway point with TN, FL, AU and UofL still to be played. Vandy already has UK circled as an SEC game they can win, so that's not anywhere close to a given. My preseason prediction was 5 wins with a possibility of 6 if we pulled an upset. I wish I was wrong but, judging from the first 2 games, I can't see any path to 5, much less 6, wins.
