    Okay Im Sold

Hamdan ain't the answer. His post game answers were really....numbing.

Bring Gran off the bench, hire an interim, whatever.
    This ain't gonna work.

Could do worse than bringing back Gran as an interim, but hoping Boley being in his second year under Hamden can actually take over as the starter and have a better understanding of whatever the heck it is Hamden's trying to do.

I didn't listen to the interview but I heard Hamdan had some reason behind several plays he was questioned about but the reasons I heard were pretty dang lame. Maybe he's overthinking stuff and attempting to always call the perfect play, which obviously never happens.

Other successful OCs seem like they have a really good idea what will work in the initial gameplan. They try things to exploit the defenses weaknesses. If they are indeed weaknesses, they keep after them until the D adjusts. If they aren't weaknesses after a series or two, then a good OC starts to try to identify other possible weaknesses.

We saw Ole Miss run the same quick pass to a WR on 1st down about 5 times, gaining 7+ yards every time. After about the 5th time, White adjusted and brought the CBs up tight and Ole Miss quit trying that play. Have we seen Hamdan identify a play(s) that he keeps going back to until the defense stops it? I sure haven't seen that.

I'd be in favor of Gran at least being significantly involved in the play calling, if not making all the calls. I just don't trust that Hamdan knows what he's doing.

I've always thought the OC should be on the field and not in the booth. I feel like there's too much room for error when you have to rely on tablets and phone calls for communication, and I'm wondering if that's the cause of it taking so long for guys to get adjusted.

Hamdan was, coincidentally, the OC at Boise State when they had a dip from a 10+ win season to an 8-6 season.

Andy Avalos was fired. Spencer Danielson took over.

It's not like Hamdan caught the world on fire that year.

What did Stoops see in him?

It seems that Hamdan works best in a fast paced rushing offense.

That is not happening under Stoops.

Is it a case of philosophies not meshing?

What Hamdan did at Boise is simply not possible under Stoops.

At Boise State 2023, Hamdan's offense averaged 32 PPG. At Kentucky 2024, Hamdan's offense averaged 20PPG.

Through 13 games at Kentucky, Hamdan's offense is averaging 125 yards per game rushing.

Here's a pretty good rundown on A Sea of Blue. (Unfortunately, I found this after I wasted my time doing maths...lol).

Hamdan was the Washington OC in 2019. He was an 8 win dude there as well as at Boise State.

Some of the critiques that Kentucky fans have about him here surface at Boise State and Washington.

So...what did Stoops see in him?

His one year as OC at Davidson, by the way, that team went 1-11. Then again, Davidson hasn't had many good seasons. lol

This is the correct answer. The problem isn't the OC, and you can look at the success some have had after leaving here to see that. The problem is the OC's boss.

Somebody refresh my memory....I know we as fans wanted a higher scoring offense than Eddie Gran gave us, but wasn't he an OC in a 4 game bowl stretch???
I seem to recall Grans family had a terribly I'll family member...was that his main reason for stepping down or was that pressure from elsewhere?

We were closer to Gran's Cincy offense in that Southern Miss game, then Barker got hurt. He had the aibility to change the offense on the fly. I think he got too much gruff from some fans.

I don't remember any family member issue. He was definitely under fire from some fans.

This is a good thread. I’d be in favor of Gran taking over the whole team and being OC as well. Gran was excellent until he worked for Stoops. Just tell Stoops to stay home and pay him until his contract is expired or the buyout is low enough. Stoops did well for awhile but let’s face it, he’s finished at UK

I certainly recall another coach having family issues, in fact, was this the beginning of the downfall? The word in coaching circles is partying and chasing women.

Anyway....I guess we didn't realize the situation with Gran as much as we thought. Gran ran a pass happy offense at his previous school, and the first half of Barkers first year seemed to be going that way....but he was able to shift to Snell/ Johnson. Not to mention totally retooling an offense that ended up with a wide receiver playing option quarterback.
