    Western QB

WKU new QB just threw for 400+ yards and 3 TD. Stoops didn’t want that, doesn’t use enough clock.

I saw his stats for last year and thought, no way UK could run an offense like that. Remember when Saban started hiring passing OC’s? Stoops hasn’t figured it out yet, you can’t win without a passing QB and good receivers. He chased his best Rec out of Lexington.

A familiar face also had a TD in that game for WKU.

The best WR - Brown? Not even close, imo. Key? Probably although I think Maclin was criminally underused last year and could be very solid. And, imo, Key wasn't chased out of Lexington, he ran where the money was. Big difference.

And, I expect good things from Gilmore who came BACK to UK.

We've had more success with strong rushing attack and effective passing. Not so much when we've stressed passing and pushing the ball down the field. If we won every game 10-7, I'd be the happiest person on earth. Just win, baby.

The Kentucky personnel just hasnt worked out right it seems. Our best linemen struggle in the pros with pass protect. When we HAVE had good receivers such as Robinson theyve done well.
Sometimes our staff reminds me of the Woody Hayes memo: theres a whole buncha things that can happen when you pass....only one is good. I believe our staff buys in to that.

Key was the go to guy. Let him go for nothing…..
            Brown was a cancer.

Not sure we 'let him go for nothing'. I don't know but surely we threw a decent amount of NIL money at him. But, his coach left for Nebraska. I'm assuming NE made him a better offer (plus, Raiola is their QB and, on paper, he should be >> Calzada so Key can expect more quality touches).

DK was here for, what, 4 years. Maybe he didn't like what he saw at UK any longer. Maybe he thought NE has a better chance of being in a bowl game. Maybe he didn't like the new UK WR coach. Maybe NE threw so much cash at him he'd been stupid to stay.

Brown was definitely a cancer and I'll be surprised if he does great things at LSU, besides a kick/punt return every so often. Undisciplined as a WR, takes too many plays off, is a prima donna who constantly needs touches or he pouts, etc. That will NOT go over well with Brian Kelly.

We may miss Key but let's not make him out to be all-world. He was solid for us but didn't exactly have to be gameplanned around by opposing DCs. I think Gilmore's ceiling is higher and perhaps a true FR or two, also. Maclin, if used properly, should be able to replace Key's contributions mostly. And, we may spread the ball around a lot more so not any one receiver needs to replace Key's catches/yards. Hell, we may even discover that TEs are allowed to catch the football more than once a game.

His "best receivers" didn't want to practice because they made too much money to do anything other than what they wanted and they weren't allowed to be disciplined. If it wasn't clear than Brown and Key both had "me first" attitudes and cost the team much more than they earned due to their immaturity then I'm not sure we watched the same program last year.

Sounds like a coaching issue to me…….probably got sick of Stoops horrible offense. Remember, he’s had about 8 OC because he dictated all the calls. A receiver at UK #1 job is blocking for the run.

I don't disagree that it was a coaching issue. The point is that you can't act like they were AA candidates for us who did nothing but produce.

Brown, for the most part, was much ado about nothing. He'd maybe make 1 really good play a game while half-assing his routes, dropping/fumbling balls, missing blocks, pouting, etc. for the vast majority of the other plays. I'm guessing he wasn't the most liked guy in the locker room, either. I doubt he ever would have been a star at UK. Maybe LSU and Brian Kelly can light a fire under his butt and he'll be really good for them.

I doubt the fan base would have stood for it, but Brown earned some bench time.
                        maybe a whole bunch.

This, What was the common denominator during our 10 win seasons under Stoops. Snell running for close to 1500 yards and CRod running for almost 1400. We also had Wan'Dale Robinson to Compliment CRod, but not too many big threats behind him. I think Stoops tried to recruit to get us more back to what worked then instead of chasing the trend of spreading everybody out and flinging it every play.
