Reading this post makes me happy...I want UK football to win even though I'm not on board with Stoops anymore

Toledo is good....For a MAC school... but it would be a pretty sad state of affairs if we were "evenly matched" with a MAC school. That's Joker Phillips level bad. (he was notorious for competing with MAC schools on the recruiting trail.) Toledo might keep it close for three quarters but we pull away in the fourth. I agree there are too many unknowns, but judging from all the reports, we have two very capable QB's, the revamped OL is doing well, the RB room is deep and the Defense is a notch or two better than a year ago. If we lose to Toledo it's going to be a loooooooong season.

I think we'll be an under .500 football team but I don't see utter disaster happening. Toledo last year did beat a disaster of a Miss State team, and beat Pitt in a bowl (a mediocre ACC squad that lost 5 straight to close the season, and its harder than ever to conclude anything based on bowl games). They also lost to WKU and Ohio - the Ohio we blasted by 35 points.

Toledo don't suck and we'll have to come to play, but we're a much more talented team and with a better o line should run on them effectively. Cats by 17.

It's tough, but we will be able to gauge some things right from the start, I believe. This team doesn't have much time to gel before running the gauntlet.

If it is an even match, we are regressing towards Joker football.

My guess is that we do what we seemingly always do: start slow offensively, play base/vanilla defense until the opponent scores in the first quarter, look a bit confused on both sides of the ball. By the 2nd quarter, we (hopefully) have our bearings and start imposing our will. We win by 10 or so, but not without some anxious moments in the second half, i.e., a bad turnover or busted coverage that turns a game about to get out of reach into a nailbiter.

While I hope for the best, I really do think this team wins 4 games, maybe 5. But it's going to be a long season with the typical dumb penalties, poor playcalling, breakdowns at critical junctures in games, hopelessly bad defense at the end of the half and opening 3rd quarter, playing completely uninspired a game or two, etc. I mean, that's what we've seen in recent years, why would that change?
