    New Logo (kind of)

I put this in the football thread as it is going to be on our new turf field for the foreseeable future.

I knew that a new logo was in the works for some time. What has changed:

The changes include removing a triangle mark between the “U” and the “K,” bringing the two letters closer together. The base of the “K” was also slightly changed to make it stand out more prominently than before.
I think they muddled a not so great logo and made it worse. (I didn't think that possible) Thanks a lot Nike.

    Here it is:

Looks like I don't know how to insert images on this board... (mods?) EDIT: Thanks Surveyor!

I am with KSR on this one, bring back the power K. http://kentuckysportsradio.com/footb...-for-one-game/

The Power K is not copyrightable or else we'd have it.

Just leave well enough alone. The changes aren't really that pronounced. And this cost how much to change? Just a stiupid thing to do, IMO.

Don't get me started on the Power K. My favorite UK helmet of all time.

Isn't it a trademark not copyright?

It doesn't seem to stop UT...or Bama's curlicue A. At any rate there would seem to be ways around that problem without going the Nike generic logo route.

FYI, UK seems to think it can copyright the word Kentucky in white lettering on a blue field.... I know of cease and desist letters that can attest to that.

I don't know the difference very well, so if you say it's a trademark then that's that. I'm surprised at the fyi.

I was stunned (It didn't come to me but I was shown the letter). It isn't clear to me that they had any grounds for the letter. (sometimes lawyers bluff) but still...

I don't really understand the copyright trademark thing. I do know UK's logo has a little trade mark r sign on it to indicate it can't be reproduced without permission / licensing.

EDIT: I saw a UK flag today with a trade marked power K logo.

The change I notice most - and still not very much - is the angled stroke of the K from the top right of the letter to the middle of the left vertical stroke is no longer straight but comes down for a while & then gets completely horizontal. Somewhat funky, but I've got better things to worry about. Like football.

I think it is theoretically still straight but hidden behind the bottom of the U. I agree it looks funky.

I just want to say that I think Spiritof96 might now have the best looking avatar on WCN. I'm not positive...but you might have managed to overtake DVZ for that title. It's sooooo nice. Bring it back!
