    Tennessee loses it

The Tennessee game had to be delayed nearly twenty minutes as angry fans threw garbage, golf balls, even a mustard bottle and other trash on the field for what they were sure was a bad call. Players, cheerleaders, officials had to run for cover. Tennessee was issued an official forfeiture warning.
Tennessee actually got the ball back at midfield, and time expired as their backup QB scrambled to the 8 yard line.

Tennessee whiskey, Tennessee students and football dont mix. Heupels comments early in the week he wanted a hostile environment came too true.

I expect UT to get a hefty fine out of this.

HOW is no penalty called when the home team holds up play for 20 minutes pelting the field with debris. If there is no rule covering this one should be instituted immediately. The refs would have been within their rights to stop the game and award Ole Miss a forfeit.

Aside from the fact someone could have been injured, UT still had a chance to win the game when all this broke out.

When you have that much junk to throw on the field, it confirms that Saturdays at Neyland really are trash worker conventions.

How much is the fine for that gonna be?

I visited volnation.com this morning, and one of the saddest things about the whole thing is that some (not all, but some) of the fans are actually proud of what happened. They say they were getting hosed by the officials and this was in retaliation for that. They say it's having the players' backs.

Shows physics isnt taught at UT either. Anything thrown hard enough to reach the field is gonna hurt bad time it reaches.
I'm sure the cheerleaders appreciated the dodgeball practice.
Allegedly an old Miss equipment vehicle was damaged as well.

League office is more than likely making calls to the UT Peesident and AD as we speak.
something like this with all the exposure could lead to a fine, up to who knows.

We got a huge fine for celebrating. They need a bigger one.

I agree. What our fans did by coming onto the field, pales in comparison to the UT debacle.

                        1. Ban alcohol at Neyland

                        2. Only 60 scholarships for next 3 yrs

                        3. Only noon games for UT for next 5 yrs

                        4. $5M fine

lane should have pulled Ole Miss off the field

I don't believe the amount of fine they would receive, would make an impression on them.

They still nearly won the game. I've never seen anything like it.

If UGA was awarded a fist down when their player's big can is clearly sitting on the ground with the ball 6 inches short, the UT guy was short and can eat a bag of sticks.

Still, on tv in real-time, it looked like an obvious first down.

I can't tell if UT's offense is really good, or if other defenses can't figure out how to stop a running QB.

I believe he will have that tape ready. Which in all honesty, I think all SEC schools have a shut down time on sales. As Dwight and others have posted, that's never stopped BYOB.

Hype from media going in, the thought of glory days here and now, KIFFEN, full stadium, all day to tailgate and drink up, that incessant Tennessee 'we are a top team that gets shafted' mantra that has gone on for a decade....

                              Just a perfect storm.
