Some thoughtd now that I’m on my second bourbon:
-What struck me about this game is how…easy it was? This reminded me of the latter half of the Lynn Bowden year where you knew what was coming and the defense was still powerless to stop it. They just gave it to Chris Rodriguez or Smoke and they made it happen.
-It’s not an original observation but Kentucky’s defense just would not let up until I think they sort of got tired and lost focus. But the first 3 quarters was just one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen.
-Levis. What can you say? I’ve been critical but he threw good passes and even though it scares the bejeezus out of me, watching him run with it is amazing. He just flattened a few dudes out there. That throw to Wandale was perfect, he just couldn’t bring it in. I thought Levis made good shirt throws too.
-Oxendine likely out for the year. That’s tough.
-I encourage you to listen to the Pin It Deep podcast with Max Duffy and Miles Butler. They interviewed Stoops this week and it’s a fantastic listen. He’s such a players coach and you can see why players love playing for him. He is not perfect and his style can be frustrating, but there’s nobody else I’d want leading this program. Name the field after him and put up a statue.
I'm really worried about the D-line injuries.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... D line injuries are certainly more than troubling. Truth be told EVERY team is piling up injury right now. War of attrition.
hoping we have some guys itching to show what they can do and earn their stripes. Kids start finding out Monday when White starts talking to them about stepping up and switching up.
What this LIKELY means in that term of complementary football is using every second of every play clock and doing whatever it takes to keep the defense off the field.
Which has really been in Mark Stoops wheelhouse from day 1.
Time for players to earn their letters and coaches earn their stripes.
Pull one of the O line to nose tackle? Charlie Strong did that at one time. Wanna play Naasir Watkins? How bout THIS? Lol...
Who knows? We get to find out soon enough.👍 2Comment

They are better than I thought they would be, and I gotta hand it to them, they have some fans that definitely believe.
Still, I don't think there is a more delusional fanbase in the country in terms of who they think they are vs. who they actually are. Humility is in short supply down there...
Ok, maybe South Carolina is more delusional. After the USC game, their fans were posting how they should never lose to a "garbage program" like UK... I wanted to create an account to say, "Well you are 1-7 against UK in recent years so... get used to it."
I don't take any SEC team for granted, even Vandy. We are really limping into the UGA game (which was already a ridiculous challenge). If Ox is out for beyond the UGA game I'm worried about the back half.Comment

I know they've stunk overall since the championship, but geez...the guy just won a title. Not everyone can reload a staff as quickly as Nick Saban.
They say that the off of the field stuff is a big part of it, but if they were winning then I doubt it would matter. I think it's as much a fanbase that feels it's only downhill from here and that they might as well move on.
Good luck with that after wanting to fire him 1.5 seasons after an undefeated, all-time title year.Comment

Levis has had problems. Slow to pull the trigger, throwing behind receivers, not throwing. He's improving. He's a tough player. He's not afraid to put the shoulder down and drive into defenders. It's reckless. But teammates recognize that and respect it. He's a leader.👍 2Comment

I do agree though the title IX issues wouldn’t matter if he were Saban.Comment

Will Levis reminds me a lot of Joe Burrow in that way. Burrow also was not afraid run into and over people. He took a pretty nasty hit yesterday also.Comment

I think CMS hit a home run with Coen and we have a Brad White-level calling plays for the offense.Originally posted by John Stuart MillHe who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that... thanks for this...theres a reason the linemen are usually the 'smartest' guys on the field.....remember every play, PLUS what the defensive set indicates when you see them set, PLUS the dance step you have to do to get your feet right, THEN change all that if the QB audibles.
After I got past the reading part "if theres a guy in front of you block him" I would be lost.
Makes me appreciate the big guys up front even more.Comment
