    Latest on expansion

    Whooooooooo boy.

KSR reports from Texas sources. .

Texas approached Oklahoma a year ago about this, then contacted the SEC office six months ago.

The Big 12 called an urgent meeting....Texas and Oklahoma did not send reps.

Although contract rights last until 2025, several sources state the two schools will formally announce their intent Monday....and it is plain NO ONE wants this hanging for years and it is almost certain all sides will agree to make this happen MUCH sooner....2022.

In what is much more rumor, Texas A&m have stated they are prepared to act in their best interest....which includes the following:
    1) remaining in the SEC ....for now.
    2) several rumors Texas a&m has reached out to the Big 10.
    3) Texas A&M and one other school (not named) re joining the Big 12.

The Big 12 will have to have some power school in order to remain a legitimate P5 conference.
    Names mentioned by writers....
    Texas A&M
    Cincinatti
    Houston
    Memphis

IMO...the first hits the power mark. The next two are strong. The last probably not.

    The dice are rolling wild.

Personally, I would hate to see the Aggies leave the SEC.

.....and for some of us that really dont like the idea of further ecpansion.....

Texas and Oklahoma reportedly neither sent a representative of any type to a called meeting this past week of the members of the Big 12.

    They have decided to leave.
Several reports are that Texas has already reached out to the Big 10.
IF THESE TWO TEAMS JOINED THE BIG 10, THE SEC would be the little kid in the block.

Reports filter out now that one topic the remaining Big 12 discussed was joing the Pac 12 to create a 20 team superconference.

This! In major way. A&M was one of (if not the best) road experience I’ve had in any sport. Fans are great and knowledgeable. Gracious hosts if you’re not a Tiger or Longhorn.

I simply don’t trust Texas. From setting up their own network outside the conference knowledge to their general bullying attitude. Our current members who have first hand knowledge (A&M, MO & AR) should be listened to closely to learn what they know (or knew) from the past. Heck, the departure of NE to the Big10 should also reveal something.

Please do what’s necessary to keep A&M. And yes, I understand keeping them and losing TX & OK to the Big10: would not be good, but give concessions to keep A&M if we do this.

Texas A&M has called a meeting for next week to discuss contractual ties with the SEC as well as possibilities and projections on the future of their athletic programs

some reports floating around that A&M was not notified of all this until all other schools were in line. Talk of a 13-1
approval vote from the school reps.

I find myself wondering if this will play out as hoped.

In addition, a story out of Austin states the new conference alignment is actually done, and it calls for Texas, Oklahoma and Texas A&M to play each other each year....so if there is a pod system....looks like they're in one together.

There was a "twitter announcement" from the President of Txas A&M that stated they have been proud members of the best sports conference in the nation and anticipate many years of competition in the SEC.

So that sounds like if they vote no, they will do it as a point of protest. Leaping leagues can be a tricky process that makes a lot of attorneys rich, or at least really earn their retainer.

As far as other rumors, the Big 10 reportedly has the hugest buyout clause around of any league, so the Ohio State/Michigan rumor is likely a shot in the dark.

The Clemson Florida State part.....according to their ACC contract, the ACC owns all their media rights (for home games) until 2036.
That a big chunk of cash for even the SEC to swallow.
There is also that thing about Florida and another in state team.....that seems like it raised its head before, as well as South Carolina wanting sole claim to the SEC in-state.

But then again, so did Texas A&M.

Reality is there are likely plenty of teams that would jump to the SEC....Cincinatti, Memphis, maybe even a couple more of the Big 12 like Okie State and another Texas school.....but from what I read getting a Big 10 or ACC school right now would be financially prohibitive.

Texas AM would be fools to walk away just because Texas and OU joined, will not happen, way too much money involved here.
