    Terry Wilson finds a home

reports say he will be attending New Mexico.
Best of luck to him and his family. For a guy that got little respect from a lot of folks (my hand raised) you won two bowl games, beat Tennessee, Penn State, Mississippi State, Florida, Louisville, and a pretty highly thought of North Carolina State. In two years you could play.

Hopefully, based on what some other kids have said, at New Mexico you will find a coach that works with you on footwork and release. It could make all the difference.
Thank you sir, and good luck.

I wish him well, but I thought he was giving up football. He's probably not NFL material, so why keep playing unless he has a degree to earn?

For the love of the game. Why not play another season of a game he’s played since he was a kid?

I appreciate what Terry did for the program, and I don't mean to come off as being snarky, but after they leave UK whether it be by transferring to another school, graduating or whatever I no longer have any interest in them.

But if he still wanted to play, why didn't he stay here? Just asking.

He had already said he was leaving....and since the OC that had backed him since he had been there was leaving....as far as still playing....hope dies slow. Maybe he thinks a year stronger and a different system he can capture some magic. Like Matt said, I wont be tracking him. I just hope he finds what he was looking for. Just IMO,....his time was over here. Leave with what you have and the rings you can show for it.

Right, he ended his career here on a high note. Not everyone can say that. Had he stayed, and ended up third string, or worse, this fall that would have been a shame considering the good things he has done for the program..

Was likely to lose his starting spot if he stayed here.

Probably tired of a lot of the fans ragging on him

I suspect that is at least part of the reason. In addition, the offense is installing values an accurate passer. That's not Terry strength.

Terry is from Oklahoma. Part of it may have been a desire to return to the area in which he grew up.

That could be. Lighthouse is dead on correct...Terry's words the start of the year were "six years is enough." I guess that was his stint at Oregon, then JC, then at UK....but I thought that was five, not six...but neither here nor there. I have always heard that changing the mind is the right of a woman and a very wise man.

It IS a surprise, but I still say it is the best move for Terry, Go out with the accomplishments you have, the rings, the knowledge that statistically he is one of the best as far as wins/losses ever at UK.
Like was said.....with a new OC that seems to stress a different type game he might not even be the starter next season.
I believe this is for the best.

Good Luck Terry. We are all appreciative of your efforts and successes at UK. I will follow your progress at New Mexico.
