Jemal Singleton leaving UK for Eagles

After joining the Kentucky Wildcats this offseason, Jemal Singleton is heading back to the NFL.

According to KSR’s Matt Jones, Singleton is joining the Philadelphia Eagles as their running backs coach and assistant head coach. He was hired to be Kentucky’s running backs coach and special teams coordinator, so that’s a big vacancy Mark Stoops has to fill for the second time this offseason.

Singleton, who’s been coaching since 2000, was hired by Kentucky in January after spending the last five years in the NFL, most recently with the Cincinnati Bengals. He also spent time with the Oakland Raiders and the Indianapolis Colts. Singleton was last a special teams coordinator at Arkansas in 2015, the only time he’s held that title in his career.

With spring practice just around the corner, I would imagine it's going to be difficult to find someone. He may have to go the unemployed coach route.

Whichever route, he needs to get someone quick and good.

Yep, spring practice will be starting for us in a little over a month. Assuming they have spring practice that is.

This really bums me out. I thought he was an outstanding hire and I was really looking forward to what he would bring to the staff. Truly a great coach.

UL have already started their spring ball. Saw it on the news last night. There will be Spring, just like last year. Last spring was early in our COVID freak out so I get what you are saying.

^ weird how I didn’t capitalize COVID. It just did it for me. Thanks Apple, I guess.

I think Stoops keeps a list in his pocket. He’ll get somebody good because we have so many good backs for him to coach.

Special team play can win games. I haven't been impressed by using a committee approach to coaching special teams.
