Kentucky @ Florida Game Thread.

I actually thought our defense played decent today. When you offense can’t score and turns it over to a team like Florida it puts defense in an impossible position. If we get that kind of effort next week we ought to win if the offense does anything at all.

Granted Lighthouse. But I’m trying to figure out what you think he is building. We will have lost the last 2 games by about 97 to 13. We are 3-6 in a season we were told we had the most talent in a generation. We have one of the worst offenses in D1 football. But hey I will refrain from commenting on the putrid coaching I see if it offends your fan hood.

I take this as a smartaleck reply to a simple request. What I or anyone else on here thinks about our football program is ours. You remind me of a UGA fan at Commonwealth back when I had season tickets. He wasn't cheering for his team, he was standing behind us and making fun of Kentucky, and we True Kentucky fans didn't like it.

I hadn't thought of that. But I doubt that is what Gatewood was told when he came here. If they put up the position and give them both a chance anything is possible.

All right, I had to do some stuff at church and just did get in after listening to SOME of the game.

I really appreciate what Coach has done, but like any fan, I want to point out some things:

we have likely lost THREE games this year by not having a special teams coach. It was a disaster the first time it was tried, and a rerun was the same.

TWO prior wide receiver coaches have stated flatly that the receivers at UK are relegated to also ran status as far as practice and attention. That's disturbing.

IF we are not going to develop or try to recruit good SEC quality receivers, why in the world do we spend money on a quarterback coach? There's no one for the quarterback to throw to.

I'm going to start a fire with this one, but don't care: Joker Phillips was an absolute disaster as a head coach, but as a receivers coach and offensive co-ordinator NONE of the staff we have now could hold a candle to him. I believe guys with names like Tamme, Burton and Johnson were less highly regarded than ANY of our current players, and Phillips was able to taylor an offense that made those guys pretty doggone good college players.

In short.....we need some changes. Maybe attitude, maybe philosophy, maybe coaches. AT THIS POINT IN TIME, our best coach is not a football coach at ALL, nor a developer of kids at his coaching position,
he is a recruiter. Vince Marrow is worth his salary as a recruiter, but for goodness sakes..as a coach?????

If we are struggling with money at the coaching level, get rid of the qb coach, the TE coach position.....hire a solid special teams guy and change our philosophy to SCORING some points at the ends of these long drives.

After the, I believe, third and short where coach Gran called the fake to the running back and a short pass to the TE for a touchdown we didn't see that much again, if any. I wonder if coach Stoops went to him and said do that again and you're history?

At some point, our fanbase needs to consider than Shannon Dawson, Eddie Gran and Neil Brown were all highly respected playcallers before coming to UK.

They didn't forget how to coach offense.
