    Paul Hornung: Football legend, Louisville native dies at age 84

    Paul Hornung, one of the all-time great college and pro football players from the 1950s and 60s, died Friday in his hometown of Louisville at age 84.


    Had battled dementia the past several years
    Extremism is so easy. You've got your position, and that's it. It doesn't take much thought. And when you go far enough to the right you meet the same idiots coming around from the left.

      Sad story. My Dad would talk about Hornung around the house SO MUCH when I was a kid. Said he was the best football player he ever saw and still says it to this day. He and his friends would go watch all the Flaget games. One thing I have learned is that when Dad talks up ANYTHING, then it's gotta be good. I wish I could've watched him play. RIP to a Louisville Legend.

          I saw him play, on tv, lots of times when he was with the Packers. The duo of Paul and, fullback, Jim Taylor were practically unstoppable when Lombardi called the sweep play.

              My momma grew up friends with the Hornungs back in the 30s. Years and years ago there was a great Italian restaraunt named Lentini's. It was just down from Eastern Parkway on Bardstown Rd. I went strolling in with a date and ended up sitting next to Paul and Dick Butkus. My date and I had a blast(and a large liquor bill) talking with those two guys. This was when Paul had his sports show on TV. RIP.

                  Loved Lentinis. One of the first places I took my wife when we started dating.

                          I met Mr. Hornung at a FCA Benefit. He was a huge supporter of FCA. He had the biggest head I had ever seen on a man. He was a gentleman with a big heart also.

                              I saw Paul some years ago at Churchill Downs. I was amazed by his build and size. He was a wonderful player to watch on TV with the Packers but to me he’s just one more good player who didn’t come to Kentucky.
