So will we see him in the next 3 weeks. I know he has been practicing but it will take a week or more you would think.

He's gotten some reps with the first team. I wouldn't be surprised if he saw some snaps this weekend. The kid is good.

I hope I'm wrong but, unless Wilson is injured or totally melts down, I doubt that Gatewood sees any meaningful action this season.

That seems to be the way CS thinks, and probably Gran too. Makes no sense to me.

I agree that we will likely not see anyone other than Terr Wilson unless there is an injury or illness. This is based on coach Stoops previous actions.

This seems to be a UK thing. The last UK coach I can remember making a change, unless the starter was injured, was when coach Mumme replaced Dusty Bonner with Jared Lorenzen. And that wasn't because Dusty was a bad QB, he wasn't, it was that coach Mumme thought Jared was better.

A lot of Auburn people were upset last year that Nix got the nod because they thought Joey was better and Nix was favored because of his dad. But, even if Joey is better than Terry our staff has shown loyalty to the older guys.

That seems to be a most every coach thing when one guy "wins the job" in practice.

If Gatewood is clearly better in practice, I don't think Terry keeps the job. Similarly, if Terry is running the offense fine and not melting down, I don't get the "Put the guy in to see what he can do even though he isn't better in practice" thinking that pervades these types of discussions.

Having Gatewood and Allen heathy means that they can go FULL RPO with Terry and not worry that the season is over if he gets hurt.

Totally agree. I don't get the "get the other guy some minutes" argument either. If it's in a blowout situation fine, get the starter out and let the next guy get some time. But in a close game your #1 guy should be in there. I could count on one hand the number of times rotating qb's has ever worked, anywhere.

Wasn’t a Tebow a part-time, situational QB his first year at Florida?

I think so. And if we had their talent and Gatewood was the best HS QB to come out of the state of FL I might be inclined to give it a try.

Chris Leak was the starter, and they won the title. Tebow was brought in for some tough yardage situations if I recall correctly.

W’s will tell the tale IMO. If Terry wins he plays but if we lose Saturday I think the coaching staff we feel the pressure to look at some other options. SEC football can’t be about loyalty, if UK wants to be a big time program we have to WIN.

I'm pretty sure this is the exception that proves the rule.
