Quarterback Beau Allen is already turning heads at Kentucky football practice

In 2019 Kentucky didn’t have a quarterback to play. In 2020 the Wildcats might start the season with four passing options.

It’s Terry Wilson’s team, make no mistake about it. The question is if he cannot be under center, a scenario Eddie Gran had to work through a year ago, who’s up next? Most of the BBN has been impatiently waiting for a waiver decision from the NCAA for Auburn transfer Joey Gatewood. They might be overlooking the best option from right down the road.

“Beau (Allen) is exactly who we thought he was. He is really playing well and looks really comfortable out there,” head coach Mark Stoops said after Saturday’s practice.

Gran says he is already good at reading defenses. That's pretty impressive as a true freshman.

Great. We can't have to many options at QB.

Always the chronic worrier, I just hope coach Stoops can figure out some way to keep all these guys on board.

When every game is an SEC game there won't be an easy way for anyone to get playing experience. No way to get your feet "wet." It looks like we will have more depth than we've had in a long time, and I suspect we will need it.

If the plan for the next five seasons for the starting QB is

            Wilson
            Gatewood
            Gatewood
            Allen
            Allen

What are the odds that actually happens lol

Wilson has already said this is his last year. Gatewood will have two years after this year so the next two seasons could be a heck of a battle between him and Allen. Even Gatewood wins it, Allen can still redshirt next season which would make him a redshirt freshman Gatewood's final year. I think if he knows he's got a chance to come in and play three years he'll stick around.
