He is talking out of his behind because ESPN doesn't have anything to talk about. I would bet him the entirety of my retirement account that we have football this year. I suppose he is assuming that since this is now a "seasonal disease" that we will shut down the world again in the fall. No way that happens.

Well the experts do seem to think this is going to come back in the winter. It’s more of a question of whether there will be more preparation.

If we get out in front of it this time then it ought to be more manageable next time.

The only shot we have is to get at least 20 million of the tests that allow under an hour in turn around time to really know what we're dealing with, and then we can plan. The fall-back plan without data and knowledge is social distancing. Testing is the key followed closely by the medical supplies needed so we can keep our doctors and nurses alive. I will be really down if we don't have football season. It will be an entirely different ball park of feelings if we don't get what we need to fight this respiratory virus. Please be safe. If we get what is needed, quickly, then we just might have a great football season. Be safe everyone.

Freddie Maggard isn't optimistic about the upcoming season being played either.

The staff’s ability and efforts to identify and recruit good prospects earlier than many other programs may be an unusual advantage this year, with visits limited and the upcoming high school season possibly limited or delayed, along with off season practice and development. If the staff (as usual) identified and had early contact with a lot of good prospects, especially those who might have emerged or distinguished themselves during their senior year, they may be better positioned to be less effected by all the disruptions than those programs that usually wait, see who is emerging and looking best as seniors and at camps, and jump in with offers based on that.

BREAKING: UConn Pres. Tom Katsouleas says that fall sports will likely be cancelled.

"Current thinking is that likely fall sports will be cancelled - with the exception of those that can be played at a safe distance”.

Only LSU and Tennessee have longer current winning streaks in football than Kentucky among SEC teams. If LSU lost to Texas and Tennessee lost to Oklahoma while Kentucky beat Florida in week two of the 2020 season, Kentucky would have the longest winning streak in the conference.

I got a call from the UK ticket office today. While they didn't say anything I think there is going to be football. If for no other reason than the loss of football revenue will gut EVERY SINGLE athletic department in the nation.

Long text to agree with the substance of the topic of this text.

I believe pro and college will be treated much differently. Pro is a job. If there’s a season or any games one can choose to take the job or not. Of course pro leagues will need to err on the side of caution. And they can play this in front of empty, or mostly empty stadiums and play to TV. This avoids what I believe will still be a major issue for months/years to come, large gatherings of folks in any setting.

With regards to college, these are “amateurs”. Outside of football, basketball and to a lesser extent baseball, they really are. And then beyond D1, it really is. As has been stated in other posts, there are conferences and schools that have said they will not play if they’re not back on campus, they will not play without fans (students) in the stands, etc, etc. And colleges are addressing this now. Someone shared with me some schools are reaching out to freshman and stating they may not be on campus, or theIr school year may be delayed.

To this end, my daughter will be entering into her senior year at Centre College. They announced earlier this week they’re going to a quarter format for this fall. First quarter starts in August, a tad earlier than planned and end early October. A week break and then the second quarter. This allows their going on-line for the first quarter if needed and returning to class the second if possible. No decision has been made when they move yet, but flexibility is in place. Of course, this works easily for a smaller school than I imagine it would for a larger one. No decision has been made for the second semester yet about going to quarters then, again flexibility is the key.

To me this all leads to no college sports this fall with no students on campus. I’m thrilled they’ve planned so my daughter isn’t in tight, close-in study, dining and living environment. But sadly, IMO, no college sports this Fall.

And how devastating this is for the students I know first hand. I have a senior this year at Centre that won’t get to walk and get her diploma. Yet, she is lucky to have landed a job in this awful economy. WHEW! And my rising senior is a true amateur in college sports in that she plays lacrosse at the D3 level there. And while the big sports at the D1 level get all the attention they deserve, it was heartbreaking for these girls to lose their season and upcoming conference tournament opportunity to possibly get to the NCAA tourney. But sports are so secondary to the college purpose that I really don’t see it happening this Fall.

OH, how I hope I’m wrong. But OH how I hope the kids have positive, healthy experiences to build their futures.

GO CATS, whenever you can go again. I’ll be there, home and away.

We will have sports in the fall. We will have on campus classes in the fall.

Our kids will go to school and be mostly fine.

From the UK ticket office today...

Long email but one important sentence.

As an administration, we are planning for football in the fall and focusing on taking the necessary steps to ensure the health and safety of everyone involved.
The rest of the email outlined season ticket renewal deadlines and new payment options.

Best news I have gotten in 6 weeks.
