There's speculation, on seaofblue, that they will probably try to poach Clinkscale as well due to his ability to recruit the Detroit area. Tucker has been quoted as saying if MSU is going to be successful they are going to have to own Detroit recruiting..

someone somewhere mentioned that VMs wife is a doctor. If this is true, giving up her practice and relocating could have come into play.
What Michigan State has done is told UK they had better get used to the idea of financial investment if they want to continue. CLINKSCALE is the man that brought some fine names out of MSUs backyard. I would definitely call him in TODAY and see how happy he is at Kentucky.

As to Spirits points....as of now we only have ideas about how much was offered. 200 k is a 20 percent bump that would have been a big chunk of money. Lots of smart folks would have to figure in family desire, cost of living,
standard of living, crime rate, possible looming problems at Michigan State, buyout....and that's to start.

I would really anticipate that Kentucky is going to find itself in a bidding war. And will have to jump in. Alabama and Georgia and Florida dont seem to lose a step...even when Bama changes coaches every year.

It's part of jumping into big boy power 5 football. Looks right now like Barnhart and the Board are willing to ante up.

Nice points Mr 40. I’m personally more than thrilled that we’re even started in this process. I look forward to the day KY may be considered to be at the level of the programs you mentioned and therefore, be in a position to possibly not missing a step either. With the success the team is enjoying, I think we'll always have to be looking over our shoulders. Stoops, Gran, White, Clinkscale et al are going to constantly be targets in my opinion. At some point, I expect Mitch to say we've done all we can and some will leave, but that's the cost of having a competitive team.

This is absolutely true ... but I now think Stoops has his eyes set on passing the Bear. That would be a tremendous legacy that no amount of money could buy.

UKAA has the money to keep our entire staff in the upper echelon and they should. Let it be known, that you ARE NOT going to outbid UK for football coaches!

I have said it many times, money should NEVER be an issue for building our football program. Every penny spent on minor sports at UK should only come after we are CERTAIN UK Football and Basketball are squared away.

They won't do it, but if they want to balance out their title IX scholarship problems, just axe men's swimming and diving and tennis. Almost no one would notice and you would liberate a few million dollars in overhead.
