And if the product being delivered is the best and the results are outstanding, you pay more. We’ve grown into something that could be special. But you have to invest to get to the top and and then pay to stay there. From my understanding (from what I’ve read and no level of inside knowledge), we’re not paying our assistants nearly what others in SEC are getting. If we want to be more than 2nd or 3rd in the East, which we’re still struggling to get to, then we need to pay up. Heck, the returns Stoops and company have delivered need to be nurtured and invested in.

    Pay the men.

I don't know why our assistants aren't being paid more. If what I'm reading is correct money shouldn't be a problem. Due to their share of the SEC money, UK should be flush with cash.

One would think money wouldn't be the issue. Hopefully Barnhart tells him to name his price. But, if he got to that million dollar mark you would assume that would mean an increase for Gran and White.

It’s not my money, but I’d pay all 3 of them $1million. The window of opportunity is open. Once it closes, then you start all over again.

If we don't want to go through the problem of other programs wanting our coaches, we have to at least match what they are being offered elsewhere. I'm sure Barnhart and Stoops know that and will do their best.

There is another issue to think about as we say Pay Up. A couple years ago when ticket and parking prices went up, there was a lot of moaning on here. If I remember right, somebody did some research and our prices were lower than several other programs in the SEC.

It's definitely something that will translate into higher prices for fans. But, isn't the old saying "you get what you pay for" usually pretty spot on? If we keep the staff in tact as is, I honestly think we will be a consistent top 15 program in the near future. Also, there's some rumors that they will sell alcohol next year. If they do that, it will easily help make up the difference in a salary bump.

Big time football. If you give the TE coach/head recruiter a million per in order to keep him, I would say other coaches will want to come back to the table. Just business.
for me, I'd like to see VM stay. Lol...go ahead and make everybody happy and sell beer and wine at football and use that for the coaches....call it the Marrow Manuever.

end of the day, as much as we may hate it, sooner or later we lose these coaches. Lots of reasons. Lost Brown and it worked well for him.
Former DC has a super bowl ring.
                        Others haven't fared so well.
Like we've said....Big business, but just business.

                        Hope Vince stays.

With the huge SEC payout we get ($45 million yearly), this and other coaches salaries can be handled w/o affecting ticket prices, parking prices or selling alcohol. The issue seems to be whether or not the powers that be, at UK, want it to happen.

                            This is a complex issue.

As 40Bill points out, there is a ripple effect throughout the staff. If Vince gets $1 Million, then what about the coordinators? What about Clinks, who has been mining Michigan? What about the job Sumrall has been doing in the South?

on the other hand, we need to look at Vince’s salary incrementally. He is already getting $625k, so we are not really talking about $1million to keep him. We are talking about a few hundred thousand.

This is become a recurring issue he at U.K., and I suppose that is a good thing. Stoops, Gran and Marrow have been REPEATEDLY connected to multiple openings. It comes with the territory for successful programs.

Ultimately, it has to come down to more than just money. You have to WANT to be wherever you are.

(BTW, any of you ever been to East Lansing? I have. Compared to Lexington ... no comparison. Lex wins every time.)

Everything has been going up in price. Have you checked out the meat counter at Kroger? It is time to fish or cut bait. We have to keep our coaches, the critically important ones, if we want to continue this climb toward the top of the SEC. If the Big Dog is worth $1,000,000 to MSU, then he should be worth $1,000,001 to us. Morrow has demonstrated his worth and MSU knows it. Getting talented athletes and continuing their development is the life's blood of any athletic program. I remember how painful it was to reach this point in our football program.

Sources tell KSR that UK has returned with a counteroffer to Vince Marrow that is essentially equivalent to the Michigan St offer Now it’s just about what he wants to do
