He's also been friends with coach Stoops since h.s. If I'm not mistaken, they played h.s. football together.

How exactly are they life long friends? I'm not doubting you, I just want to know the history. Are they from the same town? Are they family? Play in college together?

I agree with Matt Dillon, the longer this goes on, the less confident I feel that he will remain in Lexington. UK has obviously shown Marrow that we are committed to him. And, he knows how the BBN feels. SEC or Big10? Lexington or East Lansing? Heck, a rising UK or a flailing MSU?

The lack of a response from Marrow is not a good sign, IMO.

Stoops and Marrow are from Youngstown, Tucker is from Cleveland. Although they didn't play together, by all accounts (KSR), they are very good friends.

From what I read they met at a coaching clinic or conference and became fast friends. I got the sense he goes back further with Stoops. He may want a change of scenery. I hope he stays and we apparently are making it hard from for him to leave quickly and easily. Good for us. But if he leaves, best of luck to him, except in recruiting wars against us. He’s helped us tremendously and if we’re on any solid ground as we appear to be we should survive this bump in the road. Especially next year if we have a healthy QB. GO CATS!

Well.....hope he stays. Truth is Michigan State athletics has beena PR catastrophe for a time now. Sometimes good folks want a change of scenery. If reports are true and UK has offered the equivalent then the ball is in Vinces court...and it always has been.

I will point out that although Marrow has been the recruiting wheel horse, Clinkscale, Gran and others have done some wonderful things. AND.....let's face it....Vince is a marvelous recruiter, but I really think that "Tight Ends Coach" was thrown in to reason out his pay.

Not certain how this will play. As has been pointed out, most players that Vince is in on normally get actually coached by a different coach. The biggest problem I see will be the Ohio pipeline fading out.

I'm writing this on Friday, Feb. 14. Vince may be making his decision by talking with the proper people, family, friends, recruits, that other staff. He could be taking his time and appear to take this offer seriously both for his friend at MI State and for schools who may offer him in the future.

I am optimistic THIS TIME. We're going to lose him eventually.

By the way...the temperature in Lansing MI as I write is 1 Degree.

We better counter. That MSU knows the value of recruiting Ohio should signal to UK to make Vince the highest paid non-coordinator in the country. If we loose this over money, I am going to be livid.
