A passing offense will work wonders but the staff played with the hand they were dealt this season. I can see 9-3 next season. That @Auburn game is going to be key.

I don't get the obsession by some for a passing offense. I get it that we need to throw SOME to keep the defense honest. We are are in the midst of the best run since the early 50's and we've done this by running the ball, controlling the clock and wearing down the opposition. We have the running backs and Oline now to dominate. Our two worst showings this year was against USC and MSSt where we threw the ball 42 and 31 times. IMO we should only throw the ball 15-20 times a game and run it 40+ times.

I admit that when I hear a "passing offense" I have Air Raid nightmares. I don't think you can win consistently and play for championships in the SEC running that. Mumme was lucky that he had Tim Couch and Craig Yeast in 98.

Thankyou. Run football, tough defense, equals success in SEC.

Neither the Air Raid or the other extreme of the high run to pass ratio of last year with Bowden will lead to sustained success. A nice balance with the ability to run the clock when ahead or quick scores via the pass when trailing is ideal. Also, having a dual threat QB is an added luxury and with Wilson and Gatewood, they have that.

I think he was talking about having a passing attack. I think we will all agree that throwing the ball that many times doesn't work in the SEC. But, you have to have balance to build a successful program.

To me saying "passing offense" is wanting a heavy pass offense. To me 15-20 passes as I said is a "passing attack". And there's people out there that find running the ball boring. There's plenty of posts in the past complaining about running the ball so much. I'm at home recovering from shoulder surgery, so I have plenty of time to find them

I was. We would've more than likely beat MSU and USC if we weren't trotting out an injured qb. I want a nice balance. Let's be honest here. We are lucky we haven't played any of Bama, LSU, Auburn on the regular. But the staff has adjusted extremely well with the hands they have been dealt. No complaints from me.

No Bama or LSU next year either. Take advantage!

Looks like 8-4 or 7-5 again.

The schedule doesn't get more favorable than it did in 2019. Well be better next year but the schedule is more difficult.

Trading Arkansas for Auburn is a bummer.
