Nice looking cards. I was a HUGE collector up until my early 20's. Probably had a couple hundred thousand. An influx of card makers made most of what a lot of people had until that time pretty much worthless. Topps, Fleer, and Donruss started putting out astronomical amounts of cards which in turn drove down the market. The emphasis was then turned to "special edition" cards and the like within various brands. It made it not fun anymore. I kept all my good cards that were in hard plastic cases and gave the rest to my nephews. As it stands now I have two shoeboxes of cards. One box has my good ones and the other is nothing but Dallas Cowboy cards.
Cool story here. Those 1986 Fleer NBA cards were sold for .25 a pack at my local Convenient store back then. My buddy and I bought all they had. 132 cards per set and then the All Star card stickers. I probably had 5 complete sets of those and a crap ton of extras. There wasn't a Beckett for NBA cards back then. After some years had passed and I realized they were worth nothing, I gave them away. That set turned out to be not mass produced and prices went sky high. MJ's rookie card was like $800 and I had about 15 of them plus all they other stars back then. Biggest mistake of my card collecting life!

I have a similar story to share. I had a fantastic collection of baseball and football cards. Chances are if they played from the mid 50's to the late 60's, I had a card. Mantle, Maris, Koufax, etc. The same with the NFL cards. I was married and money was tight and I traded quite a bit of the collection to a "friend" for five or six record albums, and the albums weren't even anything special. This was before I got involved with eBay. I could have sold them, individually for a fortune.

I did the same thing with comic books BEFORE they went wild. Had the first three issues of Swamp Thing with B. Wrightson as artist. Gave em to my little brother. I found when I was 20 or so those three were worth about a grand. He had traded them for some used paperbacks.
